I'm really liking this applique method, 7.5 blocks done so far. The only bad part is sitting down for so long. I try to get up and walk about every hour or so but getting swollen feet and ankles anyway. I guess it's not enough up and walking. At the same time as I'm doing this one I'm keeping my eye out for the next pattern. So many projects in mind!

I've only done a couple of applique quilts but by grandmother was really into them...also embroidered work. Have fun!

I've done 5 blocks out of 12 so far. I really like the applique look. It's not as hard as I thought it would be but there are a lot of time consuming steps.

I'm too new to tell if I am or not. I have made several quilts I think are of this method except I used muslin instead of paper. Maybe it's different on paper. I find lots of articles, instructional videos and information by googling it! 25 quilts later and I still don't call myself an expert.

I finally started my quilt, about to put the last couple of pieces on my first block. It feels a little awkward but it's coming out nicely. Once I finally started it was easy to keep going.

I got my press stem bars in the mail today. No more excuses, it's time to get started on my appliqué. I seem to have a mental block about messing it up which makes me slow to start. That is so ridiculous considering I have tons of fabric to start over if I make a mistake!

Was just asked to make a quilt yesterday for a good friend's granddaughter. Will be a photo quilt. They had to put her horse down - very old and ill. So sad. Has been many years since I have done a photo quilt. Will have to do some research to see if there have been any new ideas or ways to do them. Has anyone worked on one recently?

I've joined several on the internet and have not found one that I really like. There are a few teams here on spark but I have not joined them yet. I cut out my first block of my new applique yesterday. I changed my mind over and over about which fabrics to use. I finally had to tell myself if I didn't like my choice in the end I could reuse the template on another fabric. It was good to get started.

My Grandkids are coming for a visit in a couple of weeks. They are too little to learn to quilt but I hope they will want to when they get bigger. They do love receiving the quilts and I have 2 ready for when they arrive, then I'll stick them in the mail to them. 6 Christmas quilts!! Wow I haven't gotten the bug to make them yet, I don't much like Christmas.

I have all 4 of my quilts done, made a couple of pillow cases out of the leftover Minky fabric, made a cat bed out of the Minky and put away all my sewing mess. It's nice to have my living room back to normal. I expect company soon so I'll put off my next project until they leave. It's my first applique quilt. I have all my templates made and all my background fabric cut into my blocks now all I have to do is sew. It will be nice to sit down in comfort and sew quietly!

I hope you get it fixed soon. I tried my first applique last night using scraps. It doesn't pass. Of course I did many things wrong on purpose so I could see how it would turn out. It was a good learning experience.

I love to find new quilt shops and I'm always amazed about how many are out there. I'm trying to get the backing done on quilt number 4 which will get me done, except for the bindings, with my piece work. I hate the material I'm working with and just plain tired of sewing at the moment. I'll be glad for a break!

The next quilt will be an applique. It's a big 76 x 76 square, almost 9 yds is for it, the rest were fat quarters for the flower pieces. I've never done applique before so I hope I don't screw it up, that will waste a lot of money. The pens, which come in many colors, are called "Faixion" they are by pilot @ $2.99. Worth every penny!

Paduca (sp) Kentucky has a shop like that. I went to see it when I visited the International Quilt Show and the Quilt Museum that's located there. Enjoy.
I went through the closet today and sort of marked clothes that will be in my block quilts. I want to make 9 patch holiday quilts to lay out in the house. Simple but seasonal.

I've been pretty lazy about my quilting the last couple of days. I got one off in the mail yesterday and the backing ready for another. Tomorrow I go to what is reportedly "the biggest quilt shop in Florida" with over 14,000 bolts. I'm going with a pocket full of money, I can't wait to see it.

Oh that sounds like fun!!! I skipped the fabric shops and went to visit a yarn shop that has yarn that I love to work with. Selected several things and even found hand made pig buttons. Fun! Be blessed and keep the needles clicking!

I browsed in 3 shops today, planning a hand applique quilt next. My first applique. I have a good teacher though. I bought the backing for quilt number 3 so I can get it finished and to the quilter. I'm a little more motivated to start/finish quilt number 4 so I can concentrate on the applique. I'm going out of town this week with a friend/fellow quilter/teacher to her favorite shop in the area. I can't wait to see it, she has told me lots about it. Happy Quilting Ladies!

Enjoy!!! I have to go out of town for a dentist appointment in the morning and will be alone...so I plan to take full advantage and go by 2 material shops just to browse. Sister does not do crafts and gets so board with it all.

I finished the binding on quilt number 1 and got quilt number 2 back from the quilters. Doing the binding is very relaxing so I think I'll do the second one before I start sewing the 4th.

Quilt number 1 has the binding sewn on and is ready for hand stitching, quilt number 2 should be back from the quilters anytime, quilt number 3 has a finished top, the batting cut out and I need to go buy the backing, quilt number 4 is cut out ready to sew. I'll be glad when they are all finished! I'm ready for a break. I fell like a real quilter now. I started buying batting by the bolt!

I'm hoping to finish my quilt top today. It's taking my longer than I thought it would do to some details in the the corners. I want them to match up perfectly so I'm going slow.

I'm just hating to start cutting up the clothing! But it has to be done to get started.

I bet if you found a long armer close by, they would give you a lesson. I love using my Grandmothers sewing things in my quilts.

I have a lot of trimming from my grandmother and mother stored in boxes. I think I'll add that to my sunbonnet quilt.

My quilter just called! She's ready for me to pick one up and drop one off. My list of 4 quilts is starting to become a more manageable 2. Of course I'll drop all others to get the binding on this one. I'm at a good stopping point on the others though and I was ready to move on to something else.

Another day of sewing today. I have 2 more blocks to do, hopefully this evening. Then I have to more hunting and gathering to find material for the offset squares and the borders. I might switch over to another quilt for a few days first.
