My bad...I should have mentioned that if your exercise space is carpeted, you need to be particularly careful about the fitness shoes you wear...you want as little tread on the soles as possible. Zumba has a fair amount of lateral (side to side) motion/turning, and that can put a lot of torque on your knees. Zumba Gold, because of the target audience, is designed to be less of a risk in that way, but please do be careful! Dance on! Christine

You could certainly do the routines in your living room, as long as you have some reasonable open space....hmm, I would say that, standing in the middle, if you can do about 6-8 steps forward, backward, and to either side, and you can raise your arms fully above your head without hitting your lights, that should be plenty of room. Hope that helps! Christine

If you like Latin and/or international music, look for Zumba Gold DVD's- they've just put out a new set of Zumba Gold with Toning. The TV ads for Zumba look impossible...a bunch of young gazelles on speed...but Gold was designed for beginners and those who are not quite as nimble as they used to be. I'm in my mid-50's, have been a licensed instructor in Zumba Gold for 4 years, and I've had many succesful students well into their 70's and 80's. You can find the DVDs on the Zumba website: www.zumba.com. Dance on! Christine

Idea: Put on an exercise video (such as Leslie Sansone since she keeps you in a standing position). Turn down the volume. Turn on your favorite dance music. Semi-follow the exercises in the exercise video while movin' and a-groovin' to your preferred ~Susy~

You might want to go to Collage Video's site and check out their HUGE selection of DVDs and videos. They have clips of every, single video they sell, so you can get a feel for whether you would enjoy it or not. They also have a 30-day return policy, in case you choose something you end up hating. Your local library may have a selection, too. I'm not that close to 60 but I do like the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home series - the more recent DVDs are more like dancing, in terms of the variety of steps, but the choreography is ultra simple. Good luck finding a few that you love!

I haven't been able to find anything I like either. So, I make sure nobody's watching and I turn up MY favorite tunes (can be a record player, 8-track, audio cassette, video . . . or iPod) and dance my buns off and make a total fool out of myself at the same time.
