January 1957. One of the most important things I've learned is to accept your successes as well as your shortcomings and be kind to yourself. I would rather not lose any weight for a month than give up and gain 10 pounds.

May 1957! Just celebrated another birthday. My gift to myself is to get in shape to take long bike rides with my daughter and to lose 10 more pounds by Labor Day. Today is day #1!

Amazons supreme. We live to be fit and lean. Exercise machines!

emoticon Hello from Utah. I first joined SP in 2008 and I am coming back for a second go-round. I lost a lot of weight the first time thanks to all the great people here and with the use of the meal, fitness and all the other trackers. I'm hoping to do it again.
I've slowly put some of the weight back on over the years but 6 months ago I finally quit smoking after 40 years. I'm a chip, pretzel and cracker (salt) freak and I have replaced my cigarettes with munching all the time. I'm at home all the time because of my eyesight and low self esteem so I've had plenty of time to munch.
I have recently rejoined Gold's Gym with their lower membership fees but its so hard to go alone all the time. I'm trying to go at least 3 times a week. I'm hoping to get better at it now that our weather has broken. I guess the most important thing right now is the fact that I haven't given up yet. emoticon I'll get there.

May 1957 here. Just joined a gym and going to see a personal trainer tonight. I've already lost 22 lbs (since the beginning of February) and now it's time to start exercising. Not looking to become muscle-bound or anything ... just want to get healthy, lose weight and work my way up to taking long bike rides like I used to ... would like to join the Harrisburg Bicycle Club in some of their rides.

I was born in November 1957. I have lost around 70 pounds. I try to walk everyday. I walked 50 minutes today and it felt great. It is great to have a positive attitude. Have a great weekend.

hi so far have;nt lost any thing. but still going at it /still have a few bad habits to break but can do it.i get in courage every time i get on sparkpeople i love and in joy reading how everyones doing makes me want to try harder glad your doing good like you i need to form habits

You are off to a great start! Weight is coming off slowly, sometimes frustrating, but am learning to stick with it, and change my lifestyle. Becoming a part of the community has really helped me to stay motivated. Realized this is not a program I am going to be starting and stopping. I need to form these habits to stay healthy and fit!! I started the same way you did!! I did buy the cook book, and it is great, I also use the recipes on the website. emoticon
