Sweet are my biggest problem. If I can make myself not eat them for a few days then I don't miss them. If I eat even a small amount I loose control and start to crave them again. I can't eat a small amount, I'll eat the much to much. It's like an alcoholic you just can't take that first drink or in my case bit.

Like the last poster said, lots of veggies. I have problems in the evenings too and for that reason I plan about 50% of my calories for the evenings; good, healthy, lean foods along with a large plate of fresh veggies. My favorite is asparagus, bell peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, snap peas, etc. I prefer them lightly brushed with olive oil, dusted with seasoning salt then grilled or broiled. A large plate of these veggies thus prepared is only 100 - 150 calories and satisfies my hunger.

Oh yeah, this one is huge for me! I hear if we can stop sugar for 3 days it is easier, but I've yet to make it 3 days since a few years ago after a very motivating seminar. I do make it longer after staying pretty full - protein and lots of veggies help.
I still remember how quick my brain felt the few times I've managed to stay away from it. Yet the pull is so darned strong!! I keep working toward it tho...

I think sugar is very hard to break free of. It's almost like our brains are hard-wired to want it! Sometimes substituting the artificial stuff just keeps that craving for sweetness alive. Sometimes, for me personally, it's hard to tell whether I'm eating out of a true physical/nutritional craving (and if so, why sugar, which is basically nutritionally empty?) or if it's filling some kind of emotional need.

I do agree with 60SIXTY. Don't let yourself get overly hungry. When you eat something, try to have a little bit of protein with it. Not straight carbs. If sugar is a true trigger food for you, then steer clear of it in all of its forms, like HFCS, which is insidious and in some many things nowadays! Limit your use of processed foods, which are notorious for having hidden sugar (and other junk). Choose whole fruit over juice; even without added sugar, it is naturally high in sugar and more likely to cause blood sugar spikes, which can set off cravings. If you can pause before you give in to the binge and do something to distract yourself, even get out of the house if possible, you might be able to avert it. Although I'm still working on this myself!

South Beach diet helps me break out of that cycle.
Absolutely now sugar or other forms of sweeteners.
You can have Splenda, etc.
No fruit the first week or two. There after, only fresh fruit. No juices.
Have a form of protein at every meal. Make sure you have sugar free peanut butter. I have found it is easier to find sugar free soy butter.

Intentionally eat every two hours while awake, but stay in your calorie range.
Buy celery, clean it, and have it ready for your every two hour snacks. Top it with things like hummus, or sugar free soy butter, or laughing cow light cheese.

Anyone else having trouble with binging on sweets. The last while by the time I get to the evening I am ready and frequently do binge on anything with chocolate or sugar. I can't seem to stop!

Suck it up Paulie. (A family joke that keeps us going
