I'll be 59 in Feb. and haven't seen a party since I was a kid and I'm not about to start now. I'm only 39 forever.

Love is not finding someone to live with; It's about finding someone you can't live without.

Goal: Not to set my bar to high.

You will never find peace,
Until you find all the pieces.

I don't actually turn 50 until December, but because it's the Big 5-0, I decided to declare 2009 the Year of my Mid-life Crisis. I started off by going back to school, started playing pool again, got my bellybutton pierced and I'm starting bellydance lessons soon. You only turn 50 once and if you do it right, that's enough!

I just turned 50 in July and my husband gave me a surprise party, it was nice I had no idea and alot of people showed up.
I gave my mom 80 roses on her 80th this year and tied a note to each one with a different word that described her to me. She was blown away.

Love unconditionally, Live like it's your last day and Laugh until your belly hurts!

I was born in '46, so I've a bit of experience with birtdays.

How's this: make the 50th a celebration of YOU! (To heck with the birthday!) Do something specia to you - do you like Chinese? Take some friends to the best Chinese joint in town and eat the favorite that you usually pass on, 'cause yo know it's sinful? Love kayaks? Make a day trip picnic. Soemthing like that. Do something you love in spades, 'cause it's YOU day.

I went to a friend's birthday party who requested "No Gifts."

Instead, she had a "Bucket List" party. Her guests brought suggestions for her to consider doing for the next 50 years.

I'm late for this but I just went to a 50th bash that noted in the invitation NO GIFTS. He asked for donations to the local animal shelter in his honor. Great idea and they really needed and appreciated the gifts!

For my 50th, family and friends threw me a Hawaii 5-Oh party. We all wore grass skirts and leis (the guys even wore coconut bras!), we drank out of tiki cups, played hawaiian music, it was so much fun!

Get several motel/hotel rooms and have a party at the pool and watch Cable TV and order some Pizza. Make it like a Slumber party with friends. Then you can leave all the MESS there and go back home. emoticon

When my husband turned 50 I had all of his family and friends put together a scrapbook page for him - and he didn't know about it - everyone did amazing pages with great memories
We had a pork tenderloin on the BBQ + dutch oven foods - lots of salads
all in the backyard - it was so much fun

When my sister gave me my 50th birthday it was over to my mothers house and we invited family and friends.

She had chicken wings, salad, vegetable tray, devil eggs punch and I love New York Cheese cake.

For my guest they received gift bags.

It really depends on what kind of party you want to have. Either at home and pay for a private chef or go to a nice restaurant.

If you go by the way side on an eating bing, just get up and start again. I always say I will be on a diet for the rest of my life because I love food. But since Spark People I can eat the right foods and not get out of control. Keep up the good work no matter what people say about you. Love yourself. Do it for yourself and no one else. This keep me going.

Best 50th I ever went to was recently. A guy I know had a party at a museum. The best part was that he asked for donations to the animal shelter in our area. The animals received over 2,000. He is a great guy. At 50 you do not need a bunch of nik naks and so on. Bella

Mediterranean Chicken with Orzo (Chef Meg's Makeover)
Submitted By: CHEF_MEG

This healthful Mediterranean dish got a makeover from Chef Meg. She lowered the salt content and added parsley and capers for freshness and flavor. She also reduced the cooking time to keep the orzo from getting too soft and used plum tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes to keep the dish from getting too thin. Try serving this with steamed broccolini. Full Recipe
