Happy Wednesday morning, all.
Looking like a great fall day here. Perfect for walks to check out all the leaves changing colors. We have a beautiful trail in town around a lake so I walk that on breaks. Today at noon I'm teaching a yoga class at fitness club I belong to just a few blocks away. They pay me a bit AND I get free monthly membership.
That is a big motivator for me!

Greetings!
Gorgeous day, 50 degrees and sunny right now, temps into the 70's today.
Just started my young dog running when the temps cooled, now it too warm for him. Well, just wait a day or so and I'm sure the weather will change, (again). Gotta love mountain weather.
Great workout yesterday, today is a free day - meaning I get to choose my activity. Hmmm, so many choices.

A beautiful robins egg blue sky greets me this morning, it's going to be a beautiful day.
Kelly, my knitting class was by a designer Stephen West. Very different patterns; definitely outside my normal comfort zone, but I'm working on a pattern now which is going well. I'm so excited, plus busy hands can't snack at the same time. LOL!

A brisk 47 deg today. I like to think of it as Fresh!. I'm doing pilates on my lunch hour today and walking around the lake in town on my breaks. It's a beautiful fall day with colorful leaves so I want to enjoy it the most I can.

Went to an awesome knitting class yesterday, can't wait to try some new patterns.

Good Afternoon everyone. I am new to this board not to sparkpeople, I was tracking my weight and goal then I had total knee replacement on both knees. I became depressed because I couldn't go to the gym and work out so I stopped everything. Well I am going to give it a try again, I still have to wear a brace but I am walking 2 block a day. Trying to get back in shape. I know this will not be an easy road so I am hoping to make some new friends on the board to help me and I support them. Buy the way my name is Karen not Cejai that's my grand son he pushed me to start up again.

Hello ladies,
Yea, its Friday. Had a great workout at the gym at noon and we are going to cabin for weekend. Planning some nice long walks in woods--doesn't feel like exercise then! And some healthy cooking over the grill!! I love Fall - although it's a beautiful 64 degrees right now.

Good morning Spark friends!
Friday is gym day, hoping for a good workout. Chilly and rainy outside, so a good day to workout at the gym.
Made deviled eggs yesterday, so that was part of my breakfast - yum.
Looking forward to going to a knitting class today to learn a new technique, then I'll be ready to get a few Xmas presents underway.

My friend flew home today, had a great visit. Now back to my usual routine. After getting up at 4:00 am to take my friends to the airport, coming home and cleaning, going to the gym tonight was the last thing I wanted to do. But, I did it and am glad I did. Was a tough workout, made even more tough by being tired, but I love my gym friends and it's was a great workout. I'm sleeping in tomorrow morning! I never do that.

It's a fresh 47 deg so far this morning. But bright and sunny. Going to get in some walks today on my work breaks and I teach a yoga class today at noon. So, will be moving around today. And made a delicious Carrot, apple, tomato, cuke juice from our garden vegs. Feeling Good!

Appreciate the support Suzielynn. Sometimes those weekends do me in.

Am getting better also at eating only half a portion when eating out also. Trying to make two meals out of one I would have normally eaten. And making better choices too.

Got immediately back into my exercise (treadmill) this morning! Felt good! It feels so good to exercise!

Hi, Healthynewme,
It's tough to stay on track if you don't always have the support of hubby. But, you can be true to yourself and your goals. When we first got married my hubby used to always give me huge portions to eat, buy lots of treats, etc. But I stayed firm and ate half of what he prepared for me, bought healthy treats to eat while he ate his and he's learned that I do want to be the healthiest me. And in time has cut back on portions, etc. If you try to stay strong he'll see that and come around in time, hopefully. Maybe when he sees your healthy habits, he'll want to come on board! :)

Don't be so hard on yourself. Weekends are like that. Just think of it that now it's back to Monday and you have this week to get back on track a bit each day.

Just sneak in an extra walk and some more water and take it day by day.

Good morning! A bit unhappy with myself today. Scale went in the wrong direction! Need to learn how best to entertain company while sticking to my weight loss goals. Not always easy but am back on track this morning

Today's my first day. I'm 51, over 300 lbs., and my husband isn't very supportive (He thinks he is, but encourages junk food and eating out (was raised to eat every meal in a restaurant)). I have gained 150 lbs. since we met in 1994.

Had company this weekend so went a bit off schedule, but still feel good! Have been staying away from the scale intentionally for a few days also, I find that a better way to do this so that I'm nicely surprised when I see what it says and shows I'm losing.!! Checking everyday doesn't work well for me.

Hoping for some much needed rain here in the northeast, my followers and plants sure could use it!

Greetings all and welcome to our new members.
I have been MIA for a few days. My friend from back east came for a visit last week and we took a trip to the Grand Tetons for 3 days. Such fun, lots of walking and being busy. Stayed at a wonderful B&B, great food. I did pretty well, except for this mornings breakfast which was way over my usual amount of calories and carbs, delicious but not my usual intake for breakfast. It was a learning experience however, when I entered everything, I was shocked to see the numbers for just this one meal. Very educational. But I am not beating myself up, I ate it, I counted it, I enjoyed it and have moved on. Tomorrow is another day, one bad day does not ruin the whole week. Back on track tomorrow.

I'm not quite yet retired...hope to within a few years. That's the plan! Nice walk this morning around town and to the club at noon today to work out. Last nite did an hour of yoga. And definitely plan a nice long walk Saturday - maybe 3 miles on a trail by our house. And my goal...drink more water!!

I get out of bed and immediately put my sweats on and take our dog for a walk....and then I walk for all my breaks at work....I try for 6, 7 or 8 miles a day....

Cool! I usually walk early in the mornings. Since I'm not beholden to an alarm clock anymore (yeah!) when I get up I usually jump on the treadmill or I go for a walk in the neighborhood. I like to get the exercise done as early as possible in the day because I know I'll get lazier as the day goes on.

Looking forward to a healthier new me! It's not so easy as we get older but I'm trying. I want to feel better!

Sounds like a plan and I am in! It will help to have this support system to keep me motivated. That's great you are retired and can focus on yourself. Let me know your tips to keep yourself going. I do belong to a club 2 blocks away and go workout on lunch hour at least 3 times a week. And walk around town on my breaks. With someone else counting on me and me on them, will help keep us motived!!

Good morning! Beautiful, sunny, cool day. The magnificent mountain tops are all dressed in white. My most favorite views are when the mountains are cloaked in snow. I could stare at them all day, too bad that doesn't burn calories.

Busy day, hopefully it will show when i weigh in on Sunday.
Beautiful rainbow tonight, and thankfully a little bit of rain. Cant wait for cooler weather and to be able to take the dogs hiking, we miss our times together in the mountains.

Short morning walk....our dog Sam has been limping....he is getting old...so we bought him a doggy ramp to get in and out of the back of the pickup.....he is such a good companion to walk with.....

Not really sure but I can usually walk a mile in 15 minutes.....

At least the weather is not as hot as it was last week....yesterday I got in a little over 7 miles.....today we will see...LOL

Hi KBELANGER, you are an inspiration. Just curious about your walking pace. Mine is between 2.0 and 2.7 mph depending on physical issues & weather.

Hi KBELANGER--Thanks for the info! Since I was on low-carb for so many years, I probably get way more than I should--just got in the habit of eating mainly protein. I am impressed that you get a walk with your dog every day--I used to do that in the past. We are in the process of getting another dog--hopefully in the fall. Then I will take more daily walks. I walk a lot at work, but I still need more.

Welcome. Comung back from an injury is challenging.....wanting to more, wanting to be back to pre-injury rate & anxiety about re-injurying yourself.....baby steps is a good approach. Lots of luck!

NYC is in the midst of a heatwave....difficult to get all my walks in or to walk as long....been ill the last 2 days and lost 5lbs, unfortunately not sustainable when I rehydrate & resume eating, but nice to see lower #'s on the scale.

I find it so frustrating searching for new Topics on which to comment, only to find a long stream of conversation between just 2 people that has gone completely off topic...sometimes for long periods. So I find myself just commenting on the same old Topics for points. What is it with these points, anyway? They have a level of importance that is very hard to understand (at least for me).

Hi, I am new to this site and looking to find encouragement and to become a cheerleader for others going through this journey as I am.
I am 53 years old and need to lose lots of pounds, but the most important part for me is just to get my energy back.
I love to walk for my exercise and was doing 3-5 miles per day back in the spring, I injured my foot and my doctor (which also happens to be one of my employers) took me out of walking for 6 weeks and now starting over again.
Yesterday was my first day of walking again and it was all I could do to get in 1 mile... I hated that but I reminded myself it takes baby steps..
Looking forward to getting to know all of you!!!

Welcome....here is some info I found for you....

The average recommended intake of protein is 42 grams a day. Non-vegetarians eat way more than that (almost 80 grams), but so does everyone else. Vegetarians and vegans actually average 70% more protein than they need every day (over 70 grams).
