Barb, yes the smell. I bought Noxema the other day and decided to wash my face with it. I washed out the facecloth, or so I thought, and that smell permeated by bathroom for the rest of the day.
And doctors! One of the gynecologists that was on duty while I was in labor reeked of cigarettes. Thank goodness he wasn't the one who actually delivered my daughter.

Bettermenow,
LOL I was telling my grandchildren about Noxema. Lo and behold (You might be over 50 if you say lo and behold) I found it at Walmart and bought it. Same product, but I liked the old glass jar a lot better!

when either you squeezed fresh orange juice or you bought the Minute Maid in the can frozen. You'd mix the concentrate with water in a pitcher and use that. Then one day my mom bought Tropicana which came in a one quart carton. Revolutionary! (This was mid 50's).
It wasn't too long before she accidentally poured "milk" into her coffee which ended up being OJ. LOL We all got a big kick out of that. We went back to the frozen concentrate after that for years. Now, I'm not even sure how many young adults know that you can get it frozen,

Chip..You're right...It was a "teacher's smoking lounge. May be it was in college. I do remember seeing teachers puffing away.

My 6th grade teacher was a real beauty. Just before the holidays, she would remind the class not to forget her "gifts". Kind of nervy asking kids to tell their parents to buy her a present,

Coming from a farming background.

1. Milk was hauled in milk cans not a big bulk tanker truck.
2. Everyone has a meat locker in the ice cold storage building.
3. You could buy a 50 lb. block of ice for 50 cents.
4. You could buy day old pastries for a nickel from the delivery bread man.
5. You use to drive through the fields to pick up the milk because the drive ways were too drifted shut.
6. Finally fondest memory was picking up ice on the banks in the spring and putting it a cold storage shed layer of ice layer of sawdust. We also had home made ice cream every weekend. emoticon
