My dad was an Arctic Trawlerman and was often away for 3 months at a time on the freezer trawlers from Hull. It was always something special when he came home.
I started out with nowt and I've still got most of it. You have one life. This is it. So smile, be strong, and make it a great week!

Bike riding up the forestry trunk rode in Northern Alberta with Wendy Woody. It was a long mostly empty highway, with dense boreal forest on either side. Deep wilderness. I remember the scents of the pine, hoping we wouldn't come across any bears, my bright orange bike and smashing tinned beans open with a rock because we forgot a can opener. I was 12. We had left at about 7 am and got home at about 9 at night and mum was just starting to worry. We kids had so much freedom back then. Come to think of it, maybe this is also my stupidest childhood memory!

i grew up summers at beautiful Huletts Landing on Lake George, in the Adirondacks of NY. Its my heart..and it was broken when my mom was forced to sell the old log cabin. I've only been back twice since that horrible day 13 years ago. I can still feel the sun on my face and the water holding me up...hear the laughter..smell the woodsmoke...picture running down the path to be the first one to jump in every Memorial Day. I remember my Newfoundland, Sam, not wanting me to swim and playing the game of me jump in him drag me out over and over (they are lifesaving water dogs) The smell of that old cabin,,the streams of light trhrough the logs into my sister's and my room when my parents would sit in the old huge living room at night when we were in bed. such good, wonderful times and memories..i still live in the adirondacks but not on a lake..the smell of pine takes me right back though!

Today I just felt great, as I thought about a fresh blanket off the clothes line, that my Grandmother covered me up with when I was a yound little "gurL", It was such a clean smell, fresh air, tide and still warm from the sunshine. As my Grandma tucked me in to sleep I felt so safe, secure, warm and cozy. That thought was like a Giant Warm Hug of Love! Aaaaahhhh to the Good Times Then and many more to come! =O)
