I didn't mind paying $50 a year, but I will not pay the $8.99 a month. Esp. when the videos are mostly repeats of what was shown the first year I was a member.

Coach Jen has just advised me that the $48.99 for the year price is only available to new members. For older members the price is $8.99 per month.

I joined SparkCoach. It's less than $50 per year.
There is no "yelling" at anyone, no put-downs. It is full of all positive information and helpful direction. And the coach will help you with any specific problem that is holding you back. It's great!

I'm glad I found this discussion. I bought a tracker; that's how I wound up joining the site.

I knew there were books and DVDs one could buy, but I thought everything on the site is free. And the site is good. I'll forgo the coach. I'd probably get yelled at, anyway emoticon

I signed up for the one year membership several months ago. At first I wasn't sure why I did not receive the promised DVDs. After I emailed SparkCoach I discovered why. The response was:
"To get those E-books you need to go to your SparkCoach Account Settings page and click on the Redeem button that you'll see there. You can get to your Account Settings page by clicking on the link you'll see near the bottom of your SparkCoach Check-in page. Hope this helps."

I see some people paid less than I do. I am going to cancel 7.99/month until I can get a better offer. This is a hardship for me - it is my food money.

Get the best value at just $48.99 for an entire year (it also includes 2 free DVDs and 5 free e-books!) OR get started for as little as $8.99. Hope this helps! emoticon emoticon

I've lost more weight since I started Spark Coach than when I was just doing the regular free SparkPeople. It motivates me. I got the 3 months for buying the book, if it is only $50 for a year I will renew it.

REDISCOVERLLH - You can use that program with it, just as you can with SparkPeople, but if you are to write into SparkCoach, the coaches will not be able to offer information on that program since it isn't something we do on the site.

I think of the spark coach like a personal trainer at a gym. Going to the gym has a cost, going to Sparkpeople though, is free.

You can go there and use all the tools, resources, equipment etc without paying anything else. Make your own routine, whatever.

But, if you have trouble getting started, knowing where to go, staying motivated, need extra support, you may want a personal trainer. Or, Spark Coach.

Personally, I think Sparkpeople and Spark Coach are both enormous values.

Wow! I had many of the same questions and you all covered everything I could think of for me! I use Weight Watchers primarily (weekly meetings) but find I sometimes need more than they can provide. I think this extra help might be just what I'm looking for and it's less than the cost of my weekly meetings! Between the two of them I should be on point!
Thank you all for asking and answering the questions I had too

My subscription is just about up for SC- it's giving me the amount for the next month, is there any way you can buy 3 months or a year at a time? I haven't found any prices for anything more than a one month subscription. Thank you!

great thread, thank you! I am doing great now but I was considering Spark Coach for later on if I find my motivation is lagging a bit.
Sounds like a really good deal for what you get, and I agree - I am amazed and eternally grateful at this free site, and have no problem paying for the bit of extra motivation if I need it!

Hi,
I have been enrolled in Spark Coach for a long, long time and have not been using it. Although I keep saying to myself that I will, I just haven't been. So, I really need to opt out of it and stop paying the monthly fee (for now at least), but I can't figure out how to do that. Please help.

I did the one week trial and then signed up for the year. I think it was about 68$.
I find spark coach is good for re-engaging me every morning. I check in, take about ten minutes to do the steps and once a week can ask a question about something that is ME specific.

I think for me the price is well worth it. The last diet/coach program I was on was very formulamatic and cost 300$.

You do not NEED to get diet coach if you can't afford it or don't want it. This site is FREE, even though it takes a staff to run it. Those people need to be paid. They don't live in cardboard boxes and forage at the edge of town for food. I appreciate very much this amazing site.

I signed up for the week's free trial - so far it doesn't impress me. I don't need to sit and watch Sparkguy lecture me - the videos are not inspiring. I know what I'm supposed to do. I know how to track my food, I know I'm supposed to exercise & track it - I don't need to be reminded every day to do that. I don't get excited by earning Sparkpoints for going through the daily steps and getting to the Woohoo! section. I really don't see any real advantage to it.

You don't have access to email the Spark Coaches until you have the paid subscription, so I don't know what benefit that is. Depending on the offer where you are, you may or may not get 2 free exercise DVDs - but they're cheap on Amazon.com and you don't have to wait 6 weeks to get them.

In a way, it reminded me of the Flylady website - you subscribe to it, and they send you emails every day about what you're supposed to do that day, like clean you kitchen sink, load the dishwasher, do a load of wash. After a week of those emails I was ready to tear my hair out. Instead of making me more organized, the reminders annoyed me to the point where it felt like having your mother nag you every day.

My free trial SparkCoach expires in the next couple of days, and I'm not going to subscribe to it.

What do you get with Spark Coach that you don't get on the free site?

I just sign up for Spark Coach. I need something more to keep me motivated and on track. I have joined gyms doesn't work for me. I even have a place I can go for free to work out. Can't seem to find the time with three jobs. one full time and two part time. I do a lot of walking, I am going to try and up the walking...

"Signing up" requires no additional information from you, and you can check the price in your SparkCoach settings at any time. :) The free trial is just that... free, no strings attached. You log in, check it out, and if you don't want to do it, you do nothing. :)

I agree with GrayGossamer. I'm glad Sparkcoach is helping people, but it annoys me when they hide the cost until you sign up. If it's a great deal then they need to give the general cost up front. For some people budget is first consideration over everything. I do like Sparkpeople very much and am glad to be a part of it.

I already pay for a gym membership each month so added expense isn't exactly at the top of my list, but that price is mere pennies per day. Glad to know it's so cheap and that others really like it. Something else to add to my Christmas wish list.

I pay that for Netflix, since I don't have cable. Might cancel that and use the money to pay for SparkCoach when my trial is up, because I love it.

I absolutely love SparkCoach.

I took advantage of a 3 month special. To ensure that I take full advantage of it, I treat it like a continuing education course and use all the links and resource materials.

It is awesome! At this rate, I might actually reach my goal by the end of the 3 months!
WooooHoooooo!

Our goal is to provide a great service at a value price to help more people reach their goals. So, the general price will be $8.99 per month. But, we might run different types of offers for the first month, or for 3-month packages for example. Also keep in mind you can get a completely free 1-week trial before paying anything or entering your credit card.
