No problem. I have also been so busy which helps me to stuck to the diet..... Although I failed miserably tonight. I felt that I had to have a relaxing diet night so I keep my sanity.

I am on C1D17 today. I have moved from 165 to 158 in 14days (my scale has not moved since the 14th day,as I am still on 158). A friend of mine, whom I had not told that I was on weight management, said that I looked like I had lost something (but also wondered if it may be the black pants that I was wearing), so I guess the inches are falling off, although not yet so evident on my clothes, but I can feel the difference on how my jeans hold on my body.

I also can't wait to get into a new dress size, and I am sure someone has noticed, they just have not said it yet.

I love this diet so far! I am on Day 10 of Cycle 1 and have lost 9 lbs (started at 205, currently at 196). On day 6 I slipped up and drank alcohol and a peice of pizza and it cost me a lb - I kept going the next day and feel good about how things are going. I am wondering how much weight you have to lose to drop a pant size or for people to notice ? The scales are showing progress but my clothing is not??

The diet changes every 17 days. It is a life style change in eating. I started the diet in June. I stepped on a scale for the first time in some time and I was shocked at the number I saw. I am 5 3 -48 years old and the scale read 215. I am now 140 lbs. and in a size 8- I have 20-25 more pounds to go. I feel better than I have in years. This is a program I can live with.

Wow 55 pounds is amazing! Congratulations!!!!

I just started a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I'm at C1D15 and in some ways am very discouraged but in other ways extremely happy with the diet.

The bad . . . I lost 5 pounds in the first few days and was ecstatic because I feel like this is something I can stick with. But then those same 5 pounds came on and off and on so now I'm back where I started from.

The good . . . so many people have said I have lost weight and look way better. It seems that way to me also but the clothes aren't really loose so I thought perhaps I was imagining it.

The challenges. . . The past 4 or 5 days have been pretty tough because I get so tired I crash out in the middle of the day. I realized that I need some minerals like potassium and magnesium to help with that. But I didn't know and don't remember reading about the extreme fatigue that can hit out of the blue.

Also I think I've done myself a big disservice because I have had coffee with low fat milk every day. So 2 cups of milk in my coffee might have made the difference of me really losing a lot more weight. I found some almond milk that has very little carbs (2 compared to 16 in the milk) so I will definitely only use that from now on.

Anyway I'm glad to have found this group and hope I can help others and also get help and answers to challenges I'm facing, etc. : )

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this so please excuse me if I am not doing something right. I am going to start the 17 day diet this coming Monday.. Not sure why I am doing it right before Thanksgiving but I guess it will test my strength lol..Just wanted to see how everyone was doing on the 17 day diet and any suggestions. Alittle about myself I am just turning 32 this week and am happily married with a new 7 month old baby girl that is the love of my life... I have not been able to lose the baby weight and I am hoping this the answer.

Thanks

I keep hearing about this, what's so good about it? If it's a diet then what happens after the 17 days? Do you continue on, do something else, what? Any insight would be helpful.

The 17DD is a wonderfully supportive active team - the leaders are great! I could have never lost 55 lbs without the support and encouragement there.

Thanks Gabby.... Moral support is what I need right now. Been really frustrated lately with dieting. Or should I say changing my way of eatting has been really hard. Harder than I ever imagined it would be. Chocolate being my comfort food....But I am sticking to this. Thanx again.

@strawberry - please check out the team for more info. The link is posted below.
However, you ONLY lost 8 lbs in 10 days?! That's fantastic!! Please don't have unrealistic expectations about dieting. The 17DD is not a fad diet but a healthy way of living. It's also normal for the scale to bounce up and down when your body is still adjusting to your healthy diet. I put my scale away and stopped weighing myself every day because of that reason. Stick it out the 1st cycle (C1) for the full 17 days and see how much you lose at the end.

I am totally frustrated. I have been on the 17 day diet for 10 days now. I have only lost 8 lbs. But then I found the scale bounces up and down by 3lbs. I have really been discouraged...I feel I follow the diet to a T. Been very hard for me.....Been eatting more healthy than I ever have...but still dont see the scale budge. What is up with that. Any suggestions?????

This isn't the official team forum where you will find answers to questions and support. I put the link to the team in the comments on your home page. To briefly answer your question all fruit is to be eaten before 2pm. Snacks are simply listed after Dinner in sample menus because that's where they put it when they printed the book, not according to actual times eaten. It means that you can have your extra fruit and probiotic as snacks not necessarily that they follow dinner.

HI, i started the diet today, and is wondering about the fruits. I had fruit with my breakfast, and then they say for snack after dinner to have another serving of fruit, but then it mentioned in the reading to not have fruit after 2pm. Can someone explain?

Hi Ladies,

I was on this board before, but got over confident after losing nearly 15 lbs on the 17 DD and stopped the diet and SP. Needless to say, I have put the weight back on so I'm D1C1 (or however it's meant to be written) and I look forward to losing weight with you all again.

I personally have lost 62 lbs since the end of May and was just told by my doctor that all my "numbers" are excellent. This diet has taught me a plan I can live with for life, but I couldn't have done it without the support of my 17DD team. They embody what Sparkpeople is all about.

So for anyone with a desire to get fit and healthy there's no need to go anywhere else - come and check us out:

Oh my, me thinks there are some feathers ruffled here.

We are just a support group of dieters for dieters and helping them lose weight with love and support. We are following the book 17Day Diet written by Dr. Moreno. We give the 17 Day Diet website out because it is mentioned in the book. We tell the people to ask questions to that site if we can't answer them. We are only helping people. No one on this team and certainly not the leaders ever once said they were dieticians or medical people or medically prepared to tell them how to eat or diet. We are only a support group...that is all and so far, up until now, we have been a very good support group. We do not want any trouble from anyone, we do not want to be closed down, because we have people on this site who rely on the love and support they get here. We do NOT tell them how to eat, we tell the to read the book and to follow the good Dr.'s Diet. And as my friend Terri has said, we seek advice from our own Doctors before even starting this.

I for one came into this group because I like Spark People. I joined this group because it is a fun group and I get love and support....those are the 2 key things we give out here LOVE & SUPPORT!!!. When I was asked to be a leader in the group I was honoured and vowed that I would help as many people as I could to lose that weight and how???? With LOVE & SUPPORT...what is the big deal?
You can't give love & support wrongly!

While we may not be 100% correct 100% of the time, and none of our team members have been honored to work directly with Dr. Moreno, I stand by our team as a very tight knit community of people who follow Dr. Moreno's book, "17-day diet" to the best of our ability.

For people who are looking for a great team to provide moral support during the difficult journey of weightloss, I suggest you pay the 17-day diet team a visit and read though the posts. If you believe the team to be a group who you feel comfortable with and a team to support you through your long and sometimes difficult journey - then please join!! We are always open and ready to accept new members unconditionally.

There are many who are quite successful in their weightloss following the guidelines presented in Dr. Moreno's book. The leaders work hard to keep the over 1000 members on the right track - and the losses support that.

Thankfully, while not all of us have the personal support of Dr. Moreno, we do have the support of our personal physicians. I can speak from experience when I tell you that my doctor has been monitoring my weightloss on the plan and has verified the nutritional value to be correct for me. As always, no diet is perfect for everyone. No matter what plan you chose, you should be guided by a medical professional to verify you are getting the correct nutrients for your body's needs.

Come visit us - www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individ

and research all you can. No ONE person is an expert and as YOUR doctor will tell you, you need to maintain a healthy and well-rounded diet specific to you. Maybe the 17-day diet is right for you. Maybe not.

But I CAN promise you, the leaders and the team members of the 17-day diet are a wonderful and special group of people who will support you with love and guidance. They are active on a daily basis and quick with a kind word or arm to help support you. Every active member is willing to go that extra mile to find the right answer. Sometimes they may misstep - but corrections are always forthcoming.

Please - to whomever may be interested - come visit and read as many threads as you wish. I think they will speak volumes as to the love and friendship that abounds on the team.

The leaders of the 17 day diet thread that Gabby forwarded...work very hard to verify the information posted on the boards. We - Linda, Gabby and I - verify information from the book, from Dr. Moreno's website and lastly will contact the experts from Dr. Moreno's site to verify the information we provide our team.

I find it hurtful to think that TKSINCLAIR believes we are relaying incorrect information...even when we will refer a lot of our members directly to her website.

While I understand that we would be possibly more accurate with the information we report from Dr. Moreno's book and website if we actually knew Dr. Moreno personally, I have to believe that the information we are relaying is very helpful in clarifying questions, and supporting our team members who are working hard on the 17-day diet.

I promise you - if it were not for these very leaders and their incredible insight, I would never have found the right track on my own, nor managed to maintain my direction during difficult times throughout the past 6 months.

It is thanks to Dr. Moreno (sorry - not him "personally" but through his writing and short videos), Gabby, Linda and a handful of other 17-day diet team members on Spark People that I have lost over 40 pounds and 29 inches since May.

TKSINCLAIR - I invite you to join our group and become an active member. Your knowledge and your insight would benefit us. That way, if you find a discrepancy in the information the leaders provide the team - you can help to guide the team further toward success. By not assisting the Spark People team and stating we provide incorrect information doesn't help anyone.

We are sponges and believe in this diet very strongly. It is - and always will be - our intent to provide only correct information and further the healthy journey of our team members.

I am open to hear from you directly on how we can improve the information we provide to the team. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

I have to agree with Gabby on this one. We don't usually post unless we know what we are posting about. I don't think that was right that you said we are being misinformative.

@TKsinclair- we have an excellent team with plenty of successful 17 dayers and plenty of correct tips. No misinformation - we go right to the source if we're unsure of something. Unfortunately, some people join the team, then start doing their own thing. I would like to know where you thought you saw misinfomation. As a co-leader, I can assure you that none of the leaders are spouting incorrect info.

We would love to have you join us. I refer newbies to your blog a lot, even though it's against Sparkpeople rules to promote another website. I usually refer them when they say that they don't have the book and want an idea of how the diet works. Your "Overview" is excellent.

By the way there are a LOT of newbie tips the Dr. gave us that are not on this site and unfortunately some information here that's not correct!

So please be careful of your sources! Make sure you're getting your questions answered by someone who either knows the Dr. or has at least talked to him or been on one of the shows!

Love it -- it's great seeing results again after a long plateau! I lost 4 lbs my first week. Not sure how my 2nd week will go. I did break one day for the local festival but then jumped right back on. Guess I will add a day to my 17 to make up for that one day I fell off the wagon.

i saw it on the doctors and dr. phil and my parents did it and it really works. they said it allows them to be more flexible with what they eat instead of following an exact meal plan. i can't personally do it because i'm type 1 diabetic and there's like no carbs for 17 days... lol not trying that one out! but i've heard really good reviews.

Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

I've been on it since the end of April and never felt better - I'm down several sizes too! It's definitely a diet you can live with for life because there's also a maintenance cycle.

I personally haven't tried this diet' however my daughter had tried it and lost 9 pounds on the first completed round. She said it was challenging( especially the first 17 days, but after those cleanse days it got a bit easier.

The 17 Day Diet has really helped me to look at food differently. I think it's working for me (after a rocky start) because I have to really pay attention to how my body reacts to different foods as they are reintroduced. But I don't ever feel deprived ... for me, a real foodie, it was exciting and challenging (in a good way) to think about being creative with the proteins and vegetables that are allowed in each Cycle. I have a huge collection of cookbooks and I've become acquainted with them in a different way - looking at recipes now that I wouldn't have given a second thought in the past. I can honestly say I am not vegetable aversive any longer. I would encourage anyone to give the 17DD a try, at least for 3 cycles. It's really been eye opening.

I love the 17 day diet (healthy eating). I have lost 60 pounds so far and plan to lose another 20. I have tried several diets thru the years and have always gained it back, plus some, .After years of doing this my metabolism was so messed up if i even looked at food i would gain weight. He is fixing this. The reason for the 3 cycles is to retrain your metabolism to take in more calories and carbs and at the same time not gain any weight. Cycle 4 is maintain. You can have your old favorites on the weekend and then choose to follow Cycle 1, 2, or 3 thru the week.

It's a low processed foods, low starch diet, not a low carb diet. Vegetables, yogurt and fruit have carbs. Vegetables are unlimited on cycle 1 for 17 days. The next cycle adds most starches back Cycle 3 adds wheat back in. It's not for type 1 diabetics, however, most type 2 diabetics report that they were able to get off of their medication because this diet lowered their blood sugar. All were monitored by doctors and/or nutritionists and the diet was pre-approved for them.

Just thought I'd comment because some people only read the first cycle and don't know that the restrictive cleansing cycle is just for the first 17 days, or they see the title and assume it's a fad diet.

I haven't tried this diet, however my daughter did the 17 day diet nad she lost 9 pounds in one cycle of it. For me it sounds to restrective as I'm diabetic and and need certain amounts of carbs an day---not enough on the first round.
