I am on C1D17 today. I have moved from 165 to 158 in 14days (my scale has not moved since the 14th day,as I am still on 158). A friend of mine, whom I had not told that I was on weight management, said that I looked like I had lost something (but also wondered if it may be the black pants that I was wearing), so I guess the inches are falling off, although not yet so evident on my clothes, but I can feel the difference on how my jeans hold on my body. I also can't wait to get into a new dress size, and I am sure someone has noticed, they just have not said it yet.

The diet changes every 17 days. It is a life style change in eating. I started the diet in June. I stepped on a scale for the first time in some time and I was shocked at the number I saw. I am 5 3 -48 years old and the scale read 215. I am now 140 lbs. and in a size 8- I have 20-25 more pounds to go. I feel better than I have in years. This is a program I can live with.

I have a friend who was stuck with her weight loss that tried this and lost 10 pounds in her 17 day diet right before Thanksgiving. It really worked for her!

I'm not very familiar with this diet.

@strawberry - please check out the team for more info. The link is posted below. However, you ONLY lost 8 lbs in 10 days?! That's fantastic!! Please don't have unrealistic expectations about dieting. The 17DD is not a fad diet but a healthy way of living. It's also normal for the scale to bounce up and down when your body is still adjusting to your healthy diet. I put my scale away and stopped weighing myself every day because of that reason. Stick it out the 1st cycle (C1) for the full 17 days and see how much you lose at the end.

This isn't the official team forum where you will find answers to questions and support. I put the link to the team in the comments on your home page. To briefly answer your question all fruit is to be eaten before 2pm. Snacks are simply listed after Dinner in sample menus because that's where they put it when they printed the book, not according to actual times eaten. It means that you can have your extra fruit and probiotic as snacks not necessarily that they follow dinner.

Hi Ladies, I was on this board before, but got over confident after losing nearly 15 lbs on the 17 DD and stopped the diet and SP. Needless to say, I have put the weight back on so I'm D1C1 (or however it's meant to be written) and I look forward to losing weight with you all again. Julie

Oh my, me thinks there are some feathers ruffled here. We are just a support group of dieters for dieters and helping them lose weight with love and support. We are following the book 17Day Diet written by Dr. Moreno. We give the 17 Day Diet website out because it is mentioned in the book. We tell the people to ask questions to that site if we can't answer them. We are only helping people. No one on this team and certainly not the leaders ever once said they were dieticians or medical people or medically prepared to tell them how to eat or diet. We are only a support group...that is all and so far, up until now, we have been a very good support group. We do not want any trouble from anyone, we do not want to be closed down, because we have people on this site who rely on the love and support they get here. We do NOT tell them how to eat, we tell the to read the book and to follow the good Dr.'s Diet. And as my friend Terri has said, we seek advice from our own Doctors before even starting this. I for one came into this group because I like Spark People. I joined this group because it is a fun group and I get love and support....those are the 2 key things we give out here LOVE & SUPPORT!!!. When I was asked to be a leader in the group I was honoured and vowed that I would help as many people as I could to lose that weight and how???? With LOVE & SUPPORT...what is the big deal? You can't give love & support wrongly!

While we may not be 100% correct 100% of the time, and none of our team members have been honored to work directly with Dr. Moreno, I stand by our team as a very tight knit community of people who follow Dr. Moreno's book, "17-day diet" to the best of our ability. For people who are looking for a great team to provide moral support during the difficult journey of weightloss, I suggest you pay the 17-day diet team a visit and read though the posts. If you believe the team to be a group who you feel comfortable with and a team to support you through your long and sometimes difficult journey - then please join!! We are always open and ready to accept new members unconditionally. There are many who are quite successful in their weightloss following the guidelines presented in Dr. Moreno's book. The leaders work hard to keep the over 1000 members on the right track - and the losses support that. Thankfully, while not all of us have the personal support of Dr. Moreno, we do have the support of our personal physicians. I can speak from experience when I tell you that my doctor has been monitoring my weightloss on the plan and has verified the nutritional value to be correct for me. As always, no diet is perfect for everyone. No matter what plan you chose, you should be guided by a medical professional to verify you are getting the correct nutrients for your body's needs. Come visit us - www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individ ual.asp? gid=47217and research all you can. No ONE person is an expert and as YOUR doctor will tell you, you need to maintain a healthy and well-rounded diet specific to you. Maybe the 17-day diet is right for you. Maybe not. But I CAN promise you, the leaders and the team members of the 17-day diet are a wonderful and special group of people who will support you with love and guidance. They are active on a daily basis and quick with a kind word or arm to help support you. Every active member is willing to go that extra mile to find the right answer. Sometimes they may misstep - but corrections are always forthcoming. Please - to whomever may be interested - come visit and read as many threads as you wish. I think they will speak volumes as to the love and friendship that abounds on the team.

The leaders of the 17 day diet thread that Gabby forwarded...work very hard to verify the information posted on the boards. We - Linda, Gabby and I - verify information from the book, from Dr. Moreno's website and lastly will contact the experts from Dr. Moreno's site to verify the information we provide our team. I find it hurtful to think that TKSINCLAIR believes we are relaying incorrect information...even when we will refer a lot of our members directly to her website. While I understand that we would be possibly more accurate with the information we report from Dr. Moreno's book and website if we actually knew Dr. Moreno personally, I have to believe that the information we are relaying is very helpful in clarifying questions, and supporting our team members who are working hard on the 17-day diet. I promise you - if it were not for these very leaders and their incredible insight, I would never have found the right track on my own, nor managed to maintain my direction during difficult times throughout the past 6 months. It is thanks to Dr. Moreno (sorry - not him "personally" but through his writing and short videos), Gabby, Linda and a handful of other 17-day diet team members on Spark People that I have lost over 40 pounds and 29 inches since May. TKSINCLAIR - I invite you to join our group and become an active member. Your knowledge and your insight would benefit us. That way, if you find a discrepancy in the information the leaders provide the team - you can help to guide the team further toward success. By not assisting the Spark People team and stating we provide incorrect information doesn't help anyone. We are sponges and believe in this diet very strongly. It is - and always will be - our intent to provide only correct information and further the healthy journey of our team members. I am open to hear from you directly on how we can improve the information we provide to the team. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

@TKsinclair- we have an excellent team with plenty of successful 17 dayers and plenty of correct tips. No misinformation - we go right to the source if we're unsure of something. Unfortunately, some people join the team, then start doing their own thing. I would like to know where you thought you saw misinfomation. As a co-leader, I can assure you that none of the leaders are spouting incorrect info. Here's the link: www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individ ual.asp?gid=47217 We would love to have you join us. I refer newbies to your blog a lot, even though it's against Sparkpeople rules to promote another website. I usually refer them when they say that they don't have the book and want an idea of how the diet works. Your "Overview" is excellent.

By the way there are a LOT of newbie tips the Dr. gave us that are not on this site and unfortunately some information here that's not correct! So please be careful of your sources! Make sure you're getting your questions answered by someone who either knows the Dr. or has at least talked to him or been on one of the shows! tksinclair.com/

i saw it on the doctors and dr. phil and my parents did it and it really works. they said it allows them to be more flexible with what they eat instead of following an exact meal plan. i can't personally do it because i'm type 1 diabetic and there's like no carbs for 17 days... lol not trying that one out! but i've heard really good reviews.

I love the 17 day diet (healthy eating). I have lost 60 pounds so far and plan to lose another 20. I have tried several diets thru the years and have always gained it back, plus some, .After years of doing this my metabolism was so messed up if i even looked at food i would gain weight. He is fixing this. The reason for the 3 cycles is to retrain your metabolism to take in more calories and carbs and at the same time not gain any weight. Cycle 4 is maintain. You can have your old favorites on the weekend and then choose to follow Cycle 1, 2, or 3 thru the week.

It's a low processed foods, low starch diet, not a low carb diet. Vegetables, yogurt and fruit have carbs. Vegetables are unlimited on cycle 1 for 17 days. The next cycle adds most starches back Cycle 3 adds wheat back in. It's not for type 1 diabetics, however, most type 2 diabetics report that they were able to get off of their medication because this diet lowered their blood sugar. All were monitored by doctors and/or nutritionists and the diet was pre-approved for them. Just thought I'd comment because some people only read the first cycle and don't know that the restrictive cleansing cycle is just for the first 17 days, or they see the title and assume it's a fad diet.
