I live outside of Portland, Oregon. It is beautiful, green, mild temps.,tons of walking/running paths and bike paths. It is an hour from the beach, an hour from mountains/skiing and 1.5 hours from the desert. Lots and lots of easy trains and bus lines and NO SALES TAX so shopping is really reasonable. The food and food carts are awesome too- but sometimes are hard to resist.

I lived in Detroit for over 70 yrs. and then found Rochester Hill's, Mi. This is the " most awesome " place to live. No loud car's screeching, no houses bouncing while somebody blares their car's and set's car alarm's off, QUIET !!! And I don't have to be afriad to do some tough . And no street light's keeping you up at night. This is the place.

I don't live in a city but a little place called Hamptonville, NC. The livestock probably outnumber the people. I love that I can leave Winston Salem and go home to peace and quiet. You always feel safe.

It's very walkable, and has a lot of heathy eating options (including many local farmer's markets -- the mid-Atlantic region is really great for variety and length of growing season.

Hi, I think what I like most about the city/town I live in on Long Island, is that we're surrounded by water everywhere! It's amazing to just go take a walk at the Sound in 5 minutes car ride north, or in 12 minutes car ride I can be at the Atlantic Ocean. In less than 3 minutes I can be at the Peconic Bay! As I get older, I realize how much this Island offers for beauty, hiking, boating, swimming, just good R&R. Thanks for asking!

It is a good place to raise children. We don't have any real gangs to talk about. yet!!. We are small enough to be manageble. We have alot of free admission museums and activities for families on a budget.
It's a great city, full of festivals, music, museums and culture. Not many folks know about it though, so it's small enough to be manageable.
Milwaukee, btw.

Cincinnati, OH here. There are many family friendly parks here. There are also many races of all kinds. We have a unique name for our marathon in May. It's called the Flying Pig Marathon. I've run the whole marathon several times and the half marathon several times.

I live in Hammond Indiana - what I love about here is that I am halfway between a major city and a national park. It's nice that we have suburban life - amenities with space. But, it's really cool that downtown Chicago is just a 30-45 minute drive to the northwest - so really awesome museums, performing arts, and dining are super close. At the same time, Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is about the same travel time to the east - so you can get the quiet solitude of nature nearby as well. Some nice trails there too.
Pensacola, Florida - There is so much to do here. We enjoy hiking, camping, boating, scuba diving, and just being outside with the granddaughter!

I split my time between my hometown and Toronto.
In my hometown, I love the architecture. You can tell when certain parts of the city were established based on the architecture. We also have a lot more older homes.
In Toronto, I love the subway. I also love that you can blend right in and you just become part of the city no matter how long you've lived there.

I like that it is a small town, but not so small that it would cause us to not have a Target and a shopping center. I like the quiet and that I can see the stars at night.
I live in Minneapolis and love the changing of the seasons. Sadly, we just missed a big snow storm.

I live in Johannesburg - and I love its energy. Its not beautiful (grew around gold mines not water and the dumps are sandy landmarks all over), but there is a vibrant energy in this city. And I love this time of year when everything is green, the heat of the day is released by late afternoon quick thunderstorms and the trees are lined with purple and pink from jacaranda trees and beautiful bougainvillea...

What I like best about the city I live in is that it is a small town with a small town feel, however we are close enough to the city to have things we need. Not a big city, but a city with the necessities. In you live in our town you know people and they know you. They take the time to wave as you walk down the streets. They stop and have a chat, they are not in a hurry up and move state. They have that good old West Virginia hospitality. If someone is in need they have your back. and vice versa. I have lived a lot of places and I always come back to West Virginia.

I live in a big "small town". Rural but not so much. What I like best about Cedar Rapids is my church family, being in the hub (close to east, west, north and south) I'm spoiled when driving across town takes only minutes, not hours.

Small town - I feel safe, including walking the streets late at night. Our Capitol Complex (state capitol grounds) is the most beautiful! The perimeter of the complex is 1 mile. I can walk the entire perimeter(1 mile) in about 17 minutes. I love that I can walk and know the distance I've walked without much thinking or figuring.
