I tried it recently for the first time and we liked it. I fried a few slices of bacon and then removed them from the pan. I added about half a chopped onion and sauteed it until almost tender, then added chopped kale with the ribs removed. I cooked that down with a few tablespoons of chicken broth, stirring occasionally, and then added vinegar and a pinch of sugar. At the end I served it with the crumbled bacon on top (not too much.) It was good.

I grew up eating kale and it was always prepared like collard greens with a ham hock. It was always my favorite vegetable. Since Mama is no longer cooking for me, I still have kale but I purchase the baby kale and have it with blueberries and vegan protein powder in a smoothie. For those who want the health benefits but not impressed with the taste, this one is for you. You cannot taste the kale at all. I do not like breakfast but this is something I have everyday. It is about 250 calories and satisfies me for several hours. Also there is a difference in the type of kale. Curly kale has a stronger flavor while baby kale is very mild.

For lunch and dinner I make this salad, I also use baby kale mixed with baby spinach in a salad with sliced strawberries, blueberries, slivered red onion and slivered raw almonds and some goat cheese and a low-fat berry vinaigrette.

I love kale! I like it raw, in salads. To use it in a salad, I remove the toughest ribs and tear the kale, "massage" it with a dressing of vinegar and olive (or other healthy) oil with a little bit of sweetener (honey, or a fruit juice or stevia) and a tiny bit of salt (or you can omit the salt), then toss it with other ingredients such as red grapes, slivered almonds, shelled edamame, shredded carrots, etc. I like to let this sit in the frige a little while to soften the kale.

Cooked, I love adding ribbons of it to soups and absolutely love the following pasta dish (very loose directions here!): Saute a little garlic (along with red pepper flakes if you like them) in some olive oil and add finely shredded kale to the skillet until it wilts. Toss with some toasted/browned almonds, and toss with a wider pasta like fettucine or linguine, and serve with a little grated Parmesan. Yum!

I've also had kale cooked in delicious quiches, such as with butternut squash or sweet potato chunks, or by itself in quiche with cheese and eggs.

I tried it once , made "kale chips"...never again! tasted like dried grass clippings. I will never buy a bag of kale again.

Love Kale! I use it in lentil soup (yum!). Have you tried the kale chips? In the summer, I grow kale. There is no better taste than fresh kale. It is extremely tender.

Kale is one of those foods that I just can't do. And I've tried. But just the smell of it makes me feel ill.

Kale to me is like durian to Andrew Zimmern, haha.

I love potato and kale for soup. It is really good but you can't put the Kale in to the soup until it is almost ready to serve. It should still have texture.

I ate all the kale. My husband donated it from his plate to mine.

I liked it! I was pleasantly surprised by the taste. Not bitter at all. But the texture was a little too chewy for my taste. I will definitely finish the bag ... but I don't think I'll be buying more kale for a long time.

I include it in meals where other things essentially hide its presence and bland taste, like hot soups, pasta sauces, etc.

I have not personally made these but I believe you can make kale 'chips' by rubbing the leaves with oil and baking in the oven until crisp. There are lots of recipes if you google 'kale chips'. I ought to give these a go as I have a patch of kale going crazy in my garden and don't want to waste them.

Kale is a pretty hardy vegetable, so there are a number of possibilities. You can use it to replace spinach in pretty much every application- Lasagnas, salads, sauteed or steamed, etc. I'll sometimes blanch it in chicken stock with garlic and onion.

You can also use it in things like pesto to replace a green ingredient.

Personally, I like it raw, but it did take some getting used to.

A big bag of pre-cut kale was on sale. Now what do I do with it?

I've tried kale but the family was not favorably impressed. I'm giving this stuff a second chance. I WANT to like it.

I'm not a fan of the idea of green drinks --- no green smoothies. We like spinach and use it often for dinner but simply substituting kale did not work for us. Please share your favorite, family-friendly kale ideas. Vegetarian ideas only, please.
