I like all the broccoli parts. The tops are steam/microwaved for the main meal next to the protein; the stalks get peeled and added to the weekly pot of soup that is heavy on veggies.

Same with cauliflower - I think the thick stem is the best part, and I really like it raw (with the tough, fibrous outer layer peeled off first).

The big stems on your broccoli is still usable. A lot of folks don't like to use it because it is tough, but if you take a vegetable peeler and just peel the tough part off, you get the tasty, tender inside to use in soups, sautees and salads.

It is actually my favorite part of broccoli! Steamed with a little olive oil and lemon and pepper- Yummy!
