Only at the gym, it always seems to be the channel on the TV right in front of the treadmill or bike I'm on. Kind of seems like an oxymoron to me.

I watch it all the time, but right now, it seems to be mostly repeats. Rarely, can I find anything new. Their magazine is also excellent, full of recipes. So many food magazines are all ads and restaurant reviews. Generally, I find it easier to convert regular recipes to healthier recipes, than finding inspiring healthy recipes.

I watch Food Network and Cooking Channel a lot. I probably watch the Cooking Channel a little more. I watched My Grandmother's Ravioli last night on The Cooking Channel. There was this little Polish grandma featured.

I love Chopped. Yes the judges are critical, but that's their job. No one is forced to go on the show; they give the winner $10,000. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I miss the old cooking shows that used to come on. So, I don't watch it like I used to since there are so many cooking competitions and too much "reality" tv for me. I may watch Chopped, Giada and the Kitchen.

JUGGERNAUT_D, you watch the same shows that are my favorites! and you cracked me up about making your own crappy basket challenge! What an idea!
My nieces friends threw her a "Cupcake War" party for her 17th birthday. She had a blast and her Mom was judge and ad a great time bonding with her teen age daughter and her friends. I thought was a great idea!

I used to watch it more often, but I am not as fond of the competition shows as the cooking shows. I seem to be in the minority because I know they made changes to broaden their appeal, but I personally preferred the old days when they were mostly cooking shows

I am hopelessly addicted to food shows. I sometimes wonder if I need therapy, LOL

I don't have cable, but I watch a lot of shows on youtube. Not all of them are from Food Network, though. I love Good Eats and Chef John (from foodwishes.com) but it doesn't stop there. I also love Kitchen Nightmares, Bizarre Foods, Man vs Food, etc. Oh! And Two Fat Ladies. I own all of their episodes. Such fun to watch those two, they made a great team in their day.

I also watch Supersize vs Superskinny. Not really a food show, but I enjoy watching Dr. Christian attempt to transform people with destructive diets.

I give Food Network a lot of credit for developing my skills and knowledge on cooking. It definately helped me grow. However, now that I can cook well, I don't watch it anymore because it tends to give me cravings for things that aren't good for me.

Since I posted this and made the comment about the Chopped winner "lunch lady" and her "back pack buddies" and how it looked as if she was giving food from the school away....well they had a rerun and that part was entirely omitted! Guess I was right, you can not give food from the school away for kids to take home....
And so many people mention watching Rachel Ray....she isn`t even on it anymore! And I saw Paula Deen on it last week.........and her sons!

I have to confess that many shows on The Food Network, The Cooking Channel, and The Travel Channel that feature barbecuing of meats spark my interest. And even shows on channels like History and PBS that deal with the history of food such as hot dogs, hamburgers, and pizzas definitely peak my interest.

Thinking about this some more, I will say that my favorite show of all was "Iron Chef: Japan" the original series. I have seen some good "Iron Chef: America" episodes, too. I guess it is a form of escape for me, but when I need to lose some weight (as I do now for the next couple of months), I love spinning as I watch food shows like "Man Vs. Food," "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," "Good Eats," and "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern."

I'm with you! Never watch the Food Network when hungry! I do like their tips though. I am NOT a cook, and am going to set a goal of cooking 1 meal a week at home.

I occasionally watch Giada or Rachel Ray, it's been a while. I actually love those shows, they make it look so easy to cook!

Cooking on my own I'm learning is about timing, having the right ingredients, or having the guts to just improvise!

I love Top Chef, but I think that's a different network.

I hate those shows about eating cockroaches and feet and disgusting things. Also the one where the guy enters food contests and gorges himself. Gross.

I like watching Chopped which sometimes gets on my nerves for being overly cheesy and dramatic but I love watching how creative the contestants are under the stress of the clock. It motivates me to spend more time cooking food instead of just preparing the same old quick convenient meals every week.

I don't watch it cause I am a compulsive overeater and watching food being prepared triggers me wanting to eat. sure miss it but am losing weight so don't want to mess that up.

I try to watch Triple D with Guy Fieri sometimes but too many competition like shows and not enough cooking shows got on my nerves. I watch Ming Tsai on PBS since I love Asian food~

I love Foodnetwork, I have learned that I must have a snack right before or during. It always make me hungry. I like to snack on cheese and crackers while I watch. I have a crush on Guy. emoticon

I love watching the Food Network and the Cooking Channel, especially the true to form cooking shows like Giada at Home and Bitchin' Kitchen. Cooking shows always give me great inspiration for expanding my culinary range and also teaching me more ways to incorporate fruits and veggies into my diet. Bitchin' Kitchen's Nadia G has a pretty balanced viewpoint on food and talks almost as much about what she does to stay in shape as she does about how much she loves food. Here's the show's facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BitchinKitchen?fr

I rarely do these days. I'm not a fan of cooking competition shows or restaurant tour shows, which seems to be on whenever I have a chance to sit down and watch tv. I do have a few chefs I like to watch, but I'm always busy when their shows are on.

I think I need to clarify my comment about Back Pack Buddies..I did not mean it was probably illegal for the lunch lady to give food From The School to the back pack buddy program. She lead me to think thats what she does (and also that she came up with the Back Pack idea!)
I also do not understand that our country has all these hungry children ....but,yet ...we are all so very overweight! So what is that about?
Oh, and I do like to watch Ina Garten and Giada! They make such yummy sounding food and its so beautifully presented!....(Giada is so thin and I do wonder how she stays that way! LOL)

I prefer the Cooking Channel these days, although I do still like Chopped. Most of the people on Food Network are annoying and there's too many shows that aren't really about cooking actual good food. I still love Ina Garten though. The judges on Chopped (and any of the competition shows) are critical because it creates drama for the TV show. They know it's hard, but the producers don't want them being nice to the contestants because that creates boring television.

I love the lunch ladies episodes (they've done I think 2 now) because it brought focus to what they go through to try and give their school kids healthy meals. In many areas, the school lunch is their only meal of the day so that meal is very important. That episode was less about what they were actually making on Chopped, and more about bringing attention to a very serious problem we have in this country, and to also thank the people that work really hard to feed our kids.

Why would giving kids backpacks with food in it be illegal? And, maybe she organized it through the food pantry too?

I enjoy watching some cooks like Giada, Rachel, Guy and Paula but it's been months since I have had a chance to sit and watch TV. I feel full just watching them. Also the servings Giada gives her family and guests seem so healthy. My husband and I use it as a measure for parties, both eating and serving.

I watch certain shows on Food Network, my fav being Iron Chef America.I watch Chopped, but get tired of how critical the judges are, even after they have had to do it themselves and know how hard it is. Also the one with Lunch Ladies a couple of years ago was a bit silly! I mean the lady that one said she sent food home to kids who were hungry calling it Back Pack Buddies, my school does that, but its through churches and local food pantry, not the school. I think thats illegal.
