Spinach, carrots, avocado, even romaine can all be really good in smoothies! For me it's all about a good flavor combination of fruits and veggies. I've found that mixing fruits and veggies of the same or at least similar colors helps- it at least looks way more appetizing.
Some good ones I've tried:
spinach, avocado, banana with a little plain light soymilk
spinach, romaine, kiwi, and apple juice (this one came out more like a thick juice than a regular smoothie consistency but it was still pretty good)
steamed carrot, banana, soymilk, and a little cinnamon
peach, raspberry, carrot, apple juice
and today I'm having strawberry, carrot, raspberry, and applesauce. it's wonderful. I've been thinking of trying some kind of squash as well, since they tend to be sweeter.
