My husband rather disliked brown rice but I made half and half brown and white for a while and now he prefers just the plain brown rice. Me too! I use it for everything, freeze it often, and also prepare homemade frozen lunches with it.

The Indonesian fried rice recipe sounds delicious! I'll definitely be trying that out.

I have an Indonesian recipe for fried rice: Nasi Goreng—Indonesian Spiced Rice

1.5 tbs. Olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
3 large carrots, chopped
1 bunch green onions, optional
1 tsp. turmeric
.5 tsp. chili powder
2 cups brown rice
4 cups chicken stock (or water)
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
¼ white cabbage, chopped (not too fine)
Soy sauce to taste (couple of dashes)
1 tbs. sesame oil

Cook rice in stock or water. This can be done day ahead
Heat olive oil in wok or large pan
Add onions, celery, carrots and cook them a little
Add turmeric, chili powder, cayenne pepper and stir
Add cabbage, stir
Let simmer with top on wok for about 10 minutes
Add rice and green onions, stir, heat through, done!
If you wish you can add any of the following: chicken, pork, shrimp or top with ribbons of egg omelet.
Make it with spaghetti and you have bami goreng.

Burrito bowls!! Just throw in some black beans, pico, corn (I use whatever leftover veggies I have) and maybe a little cheddar cheese and salsa in with the brown rice. Heaven in a bowl. Lol Really quick and easy too.

You could also heat with chicken broth instead of butter.

Yes, just put into freezer bags. Thaw in fridge and heat gently with butter.
