why isn't the shopping list (with recommendations from the nurient built in to the Diet and food Tracker
I know I can print out the list but is is easier if I could just open it on my Iphone and is a lot more eco friendly.
if it was able to track what I already have and used and would make a list based on what I need to get more of would be awesome.
for example it says for today I should have Cottage Cheese, 1% Milkfat, 0.5 cup (not packed) and say if I barcode scanned into the shopping list I bought 1% Low Fat Cottage Cheese
(16 oz.) it could tell based on input I when I would run out and make shopping recommendations based on that. Could even be a new app that ties into the others. I would spend 99 cents on that

I use Ziplist too, because they have a free app, so I can look at my list on my phone while I'm shopping.

I use Ziplist. A lot of the websites and blogs I frequent use this. The search engine works well for me and there is also a tool bar widget that allows me to "clip" a recipe from most websites that aren't Ziplist friendly and add it to my recipe box. I can generate a grocery list based on recipes I add to my planned meals or just by adding a recipe's ingredients. I don't use it solely for menu planning like I should, but I do find it helpful when I do stick to it!

There are a lot of sites that you can generate a grocery list with. Food.com offers a free meal planner and shopping list maker. If you use recipes from the site you can just drag and drop them onto the days of the week.

I just make my weekly menu plan and then write my shopping list on paper. I honestly think it can be much simpler than inputting all your menu and recipes into a site and then getting a list made for you with a lot of stuff you probably still don't need to buy like 1/4 tsp pepper or 2 T flour. I suppose if you are only using SP meal plans or recipes already in the system of whatever site it is then it would be quick to print a list out every week and just cross out what you don't need to buy.

I use the grocery list from the nutrition planner. On Saturdays I sit and plan out the next week of meals, put them in my tracker, print off the grocery list and take it shopping on Sunday. Sticking to the list keeps me from coming home with stuff I really don't need to have anyway.

I use mastercook. It is a recipe software program but does everything your talking about. It even will give you the nutrition on your recipes. I have used it for years and is very helpful. It organize ingredients on how they should be in a grocery store as well. Its great.. one of my goals for 2013 is to be more organized in my shopping and meal planning too.

For some reason, I have trouble getting the SP recipes to come up on my PC...

Anyhow, I use Pepperplate - it takes some time to enter in your recipes, but once you do, you can then add each recipe/menu item to your shopping list each week. I plan my weekly menu, add the items to the shopping list, then use the shopping list on my Kindle at the store. You can also just print it and carry with you.

As already mentioned there's a way to do it through the nutrition tracker, but what I do is go through each recipe on my meal plan and write down what I need to buy from each recipe. Then I organize it according to how my store is laid out, that way I don't find myself wandering down the cookie aisle looking for something else :) Most stores even provide a map or a list of what is in each aisle if you're not familiar with your store.

Working on maintaining at 140!

Yes, if you enter your food for the week (up to 7 days ahead), you can then click on the button for the grocery list in your nutrition tracker and you can print that out.

I could be wrong...but I think spark people has a grocery list button on your food tracking page. I am new and never used it but you may want to give it a try if you track your food! I think I will also try it!

I am notorious for going to a grocery store and just.... buying stuff. I never have a plan or a list. I decided that I'm going to start making weekly meal menus. A la elementary school. This way I have a list of exactly what I need to buy and I don't buy anything NOT on my list.

I'm curious to know if there is a program or website (SP maybe?) that will allow you to put in your entire meal plan and then break down the grocery list and tell you what you need to buy. Or even put in recipes for the week and it tells me what I need. Am I dreaming? Does this even exist?
