it is my oil of choice when cooking. I also put it in my smoothies. I don't pay much attention to the saturated fats and what not.

:)

I have a hard time finding moisturizers for my face that don't make the dryness worse around my nose. I tried coconut oil and have not had any problems. I now use it regularly. At first it seems greasy when you put it on, so a little goes a long way, then it soaks in.

It is a saturated fat, which is something you want to use sparingly/once in a while, but you may want to review the reference guide for fats for more info: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/reference_fat

A little bit about coconut oil from livestrong.com. Although coconut oil is high in calories, so still shouldn't go too crazy with it!

I've heard it's healthier for you because it helps your body metabolize fat. I still use it sparingly.

And it's so expensive! I've heard that it's good to cook with because it has almost no flavor and (maybe?) a low melting point? You know, I'm not sure why it's such a cool thing right now. I was going to buy some to make home-made magic shell (thank you Pinterest) but that's just crazy fat. Good luck in your quest!

Lose the weight sensibly, steadily and without deprivation. Being fat is hard. I want a new hard.

I heard coconut oil was really good for you but when I started looking at the different oils pure coconut, canola, vege, and olive oils I noticed coconut had 12g of satuated fat. After the fact I mixed it in my waffle mix :(. So is satiated fat the worst out of all of them. I usually use canola oil in mixes but I spent a lot on this pure coconut stuff and I need to use it.
