The cookbook sounds like the one to own! I am going to try and find it at my library first. Sounds like I should just hurry and order it. I need to cook healthier, I know that now. My eating habits have gotten out of control again. emoticon

To the person that bought the Kindle version...go to " help" and ask there.Someone should be able to answer from there.

Hi - wondering if one of you can help. I've just bought this Cookbook electronically via Amazon Kindle. It says to enter the code on page 467 of the book to get my Spark Points. But there is no page 467 in the Kindle version of the book? Anyone have any ideas what I do?

Can I buy the spark people book in any store or do I have to buy it online? I am excited to get this book, but don't want to wait to have it shipped. If I had just ordered it online, I probably would have had it by now! :)

I read some of my Spark cookbook tonight on my computer. I downloaded the free Amazon Kindle app. My Kindle does not have color so I liked reading it better there. Seems to be part motiviational book plus part recipe book. The ingredietns seem pretty simple and you should be able to locate them in about any country. Many quick easy recipies. It's not so simple of a cookbook that I would have came up with the recipies on my own. Seems to be a keeper.emoticonemoticon

I don t wanna open a new thread so I ll just ask on this one.
Are the ingredients requires for the recipes normal ingredients that can be found everywhere ? because I don t live in the US and the supermarkets here don t carry the same brands. I don't wanna find myself buying the cookbook and not being able to use it.

Thanks !

I got mine and have had a cooking frenzy. I love the slow cooker veggie curry and make a double batch for the freezer, experimenting with beans/lentils as well as chick peas. The carrots with cumin is yummy too - we get through a lot of carrots in our house and the cumin makes a nice change.

YES!! And everything in it so far is AWESOME!

I love to cook--LOVE it--and I'm pretty good at it. But one of the things I struggle with is a) preparing myself to cook meals throughout the week (aka meal planning) and b) knowing what to serve with what to make a real "healthy" meal. This book is making it easier for me to learn both of these things, in part by the way it is laid out and put together, but also in the notes found throughout and appendices at the back.

I've made several of the recipes in the past couple weeks and absolutely love all of them. Even the tuna noodle casserole, which when I shared the recipe with my mother caused her to say "That is NOT tuna casserole!" Tell you what though--might not have been the same recipe I grew up with but it sure did taste just as good.

The only thing I struggled with was the Pad Thai--buggered up the tofu. (Tasted fine just looked awful because I messed up the tofu and it fell apart before it hit the pan) There are tips in there, but some things are just trial and error. The recipes are easy and I can already remember a few without looking because they're THAT simple.

And it's stuff that human beings eat. I don't have to go to Whole Paycheck and ask the food gurus there what ingredients are, only to find that they are only found in the Sumatran plains during the second week in April--it's real food for real people. If I was cooking for more than just me, I know that everyone would be pretty happy with any meal I put together and it would be easy for me to use shortcuts (frozen vs. fresh veg, for example) to make things easier on me as the chef! That's the downside of a lot of the Rachael Ray recipes (my other obsession!) or other Food Network peeps--the ingredients and prep isn't simple. It's stuff that doesn't exist locally (well my local anyway) and isn't easy to prepare. I'm making four different dishes and finally having everything get done at the same time without a lot of screwing things up or burning things or having stuff under/over done! I've yet to have a recipe come out bad!

I am recommending this to *everyone.* Not because I'm a big SP person--I'm still learning too--but rather because it's something that I am finding really useful considering I don't have a big background in cooking. Cooking for one every night is a whole other animal compared to feeding a family--and this is helping me learn to do the latter (and get leftovers out of the deal!) while making the former easy. I'm all about easy. I'm a teacher who works WAY too many hours and really just wants to come home and nuke something in a box--but I like this a LOT more than anything out of a box. :)

"I touch the future. I teach."
~Christa McAuliffe

Hi LEATU5!
it's not only a cookbook, it's an educational eye opening book, the recipes are simple and easy to make but are full of flavor and variety, i think it is made that way to make it easy for everybody to enjoy healthy cooking including the ones who are not experts in cooking.. i already know how to cook and i totally enjoyed every single meal i tried including the snacks and sauces! ;)

give it a shot and judge by your self. emoticon

I found it at my library first. I took the book out 3x before finally buying my own copy. It and my Zumba Fitness2 game were the only things I wanted for Christmas, so I got them for myself last week. I've been using both ever since and enjoying every minute of it.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! I'll be preparing several recipes for my sister and bro-in-law for Xmas dinner this weekend. emoticon

I read some reviews on Amazon saying that the cookbook is basic and not for someone that already knows how to cook.

Has anyone felt that way about it?

I haven't gotten a chance to try to find it in a bookstore to thumb through yet.

yesterday i tried 2 recipes from the book, for breakfast and lunch. i totally loved them and they're very satisfying :)

i love appendix E, i learned how to store my fruits and veggies freshly, and am slowly kinda changing my kitchen towards a healthy kitchen with the book's tips :)

I have not yet ordered my cookbook yet. From reading the message board it appears that I should get one.
Seems like there is a lot more than just recipes in this book. You now have my attention, so I am going to look into purchasing one.
Thanks for the insight

Have a great day of success,
Cliff

It is a great book. The roasted root vegetables are fantastic. I tried some things I've never eaten before.
