I eat Shirataki noodles almost every day. I love them but I realize that they can be an acquired taste because of the texture. They need to be very well rinsed and drained. I use them in stir fry with vegetables. They now also have orzo and pearl shapes too. I haven't seem them yet (except online) but they would be great for soups.
I have difficulty finding them where I live in the Bronx. I stock up when I visit my parents in PA.

I just tried them a wk ago & have a 2nd pk in the fridge. Mine went into a strainer & I sprayed them with cold water....then sprayed good again & let them drain, while I chopped lettuce for a salad.Dumped noodles onto several folded paper towels & used another to blot off any moisture. When the meal was ready,I nuked the noodles as the pkg says, then topped them with marina sauce & 2 meatballs.A shake of parmesan & WOW worked for me.Whole pkg was,I think....40 cals. Mine came from a local grocery.Gonna use other pkg in a broth/ch noodle soup. They keep good in fridge. Follow pkg directions. Not gourmet, but compared to pasta ,much lower cal.

They don't taste fishy if you rinse them well - or get the sprouted tofu ones and not only do they cook more quickly there is no odor.
Yes, they don't taste exactly like pasta, but for those of us who can't eat pasta it's a wonderful alternative.
Many health food stores carry them, and also major chain grocery stores do as well. I've seen them near the produce section, but also in the area where they have tofu, pot sticker wrappers, veggie "meats" and the like.
Definitely always refrigerated.

I love shirataki noodles! Some say they smell like fish, but I don't think so. You can get them at Whole Foods in Portland OR. They are in the refridgerator section with the tofu.
If I spent as much time at the gym as I spend on sparkpeople...I would be sooo skinny!

I tried really, really hard to like these! Our grocery store has them by the tofu in the produce section and I tried them more than once but can't get past the texture and slightly fishy taste.

I found mine in the organic section's refridgerated section. I was really excited to find these thinking they would be my answer to a pasta alternative, but after trying them several times different ways, I'm not a fan. The texture throws me off, but I might try them again in the near future.

When I found these noodles, they were in the refrigerated section in the produce dept next to the tofu. I tried them once, but I'm not sure if they liked them or not. The smell didn't bother me but the texture was a little strange. And I didn't really like the recipe I used them in, so that may have something to do with it also. I will probably try them again...eventually.

I'm not a big fan either. I found mine at a health food store in the refrigerated section.

Oh man, I'm surprised no one in here likes them. I can't get enough of them! I'm a full-blooded Italian so anything that will allow me to enjoy "pasta" is amazing for me. And I love Hungry Girl.. I actually made one of her shirataki recipes tonight for dinner. Great substitute for white mac and cheese.. i'll take what i can get!

I also find them in the produce section. I must admit, I'm not a fan either. Too rubbery for me. If you do like them, the Hungry Girl books have a bunch of recipes.
Also, to add on to spaghetti options, one of my kids can't have gluten. We'd also tried the brown rice pasta and the quinoa.

I do know that you need to look in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.. I found them in the produce section with the other tofu products. I personally did not like them. THey are kind of fishy smelling when you open them, you have to rinse them and dry them. But even after that, I couldn't get past the rubbery texture. But many people do like them! Something else you may want to try in place of spaghetti is spaghetti squash. I tried it with meat sauce and I did like it. A lot fewer calories than spaghetti noodles.
I have seen some recipes here using these noodles. I love noodles but too high in calories for me. I love tofu so think these would be a good substitute. I have made inquiries at a local oriental store but no luck. Where can I buy them? I live in the city of Surrey, British Columbia Canada. I will be visiting Portland, Oregon next week. Maybe there is a store that sells them. Thank you all
