When I get a sweet craving, I generally try to grab something with protein instead. Sounds like no fun, but neither is a sweet tooth when you know it has potential to go overboard! Or some kind of food that has protein AND sweet, or a combination, like an fruit WITH almond butter.

Dark chocolate. There's no way I could ever give up chocolate completely. To keep myself from eating the entire bar in one sitting I put it in the freezer then break off a few pieces and enjoy them SLOWLY with a cup of cold milk. So good!

I make something with stevia extract. OK... desserts with stevia are not so great, but something creamy like in a smoothie can be really satisfying. Sometimes I just pour a glass of nut milk and some stevia in it and it's quite delicious for that sweet craving.

Stevia is a leaf that is much sweeter than sugar, yet it does not affect blood sugar and has no calories. Youcan find it in natural food stores in the supplements section. I use liquid extract, not powder.

What I go for depends on how much I've eaten. If I really don't need to be eating anymore, I'll make up a cup of herbal apple cinnamon tea and it has a yummy cider taste. If I want a little more, I may do hot chocolate or warm up a chocolate Vita Muffin or Vita Top. Or if I want something cooler, some berries and yogurt.

apple with caramel apple dip and a bit of whipped cream makes a great sundae.

It's not what I did, but what I do next that sets the course for success.

I make hot (or cold)cocoa. 8 oz skim milk, 1 TBSP Hershey's Cocoa (brown tin in baking section, 1 TBSP Splenda (or equivilent), 1/2 tsp (or more)vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp extract like orange, mint, almond. Mix well with hand blender. It tastes like boxed chocolate, is filling, counts as 1 milk and is only 100 calories.

If I'm really craving sweets and can't "afford" calories, I have a cup of fruity tea (pomegranate or raspberry) with a little bit of stevia.

I keep a dark chocolate with almonds bar at home (like a big candy bar- store brand). It breaks into 8 pieces and each is about 50 calories.. one piece is usually enough to satisfy the craving. :)

right now my weakness was chocolate cake. My husband was gone for 2 weeks and when he came home i made him a cake. So what i did is i read how big the serving size was and i cut the cake in excatly how much i could have every day and i put it in my tracker and my meal revolved around it till it was gone and that way i didnt go over my calories and i still workout every other day

I know this is awful but my favourite is haagen dazs cookie dough icecream so I only let myself have 1/4 cup at a time and I sprinkle pecans on top. Very good and very filling.

I also love these mint cream chocolates. They're only about 50 calories so they don't ruin the day's calories either.

For healthy snacks I love pineapple, kiwi and pomegranate and grapes too.

My go-to sweet snack right now are CANDY CANES! I have some super mini ones--3 of them are 35 calories. During the day it is raisins or some other fruit, but at night in front of the TV, it is the canes!

Sugar free jello with berries. Sugar free pudding made with nonfat milk. Sugar-free fudgsicles. Microwaved fruits with splenda and cinnamon. But mostly, fruit, fruit, fruit!

Oh, for a treat I take really expensive cocoa powder, cayenne pepper, splenda and skim milk and make myself a very grown up and sexy hot, hot cocoa.

Jell-O pudding cups, 100 calorie cookie packs, fruit, apples and caramel dip, a serving of frozen yogurt or gelato, low cal cheesecake (you can find recipes on sparkrecipes), low cal cookies, etc.

Most of these aren't really nutritionally sound but when you want something sweet, they won't undo your day :)
