That's good advice, but for me, once I start to eat something sweet, I can't stop.
If I get a tray of those marshmallow peeps, I have to eat the whole tray in one sitting and then I still want something sweet.

If you want a cookie, make cookies! You can control your portion size. You can use a good quality cocoa powder as opposed to choc. chips. Heck, you can use a few chocolate chips per serving if you want something melty. Replace your fat with a fruit puree (unsweetened applesauce). Replace your whole eggs with 2 egg whites each. Replace your regular AP flour with white whole wheat flour and bake yourself up some chocolate chocolate cookies.
The only suggestion I would give is use the freezer, it's your friend. Having to take the time to defrost and reheat the cookies will keep this a one-a-day habit and not a two-or-three-a-day one!

I know this may sound weird but raw food desserts. They are sweet and so tasty and your body can easily break the foods down because they are raw. I live in a big city so at alot of the health food stores they sell them but it can become pricey so i am going to start looking for recipies and making my own. They usually have things like dates , coconut oil (the unprocessed healthy kind) nuts ,fruits and I am not sure what else! They are so delicious. They are very sweet AHHH! But after eating them i never feel lethargic or weighed down.

I too am a chocoholic. Just fruit doesn't work for me either unless I make it into an actual dessert (cobblers, crisps, pie). I found I can make most desserts much healthier then typically found elsewhere and still be very tasty.
Pie crust - I use a pizza crust recipe instead using white whole wheat flour, yeast, sugar and water instead.
Crisps - I use white whole wheat flour, sugar, molasses, oats and bind with egg whites instead of butter.
cookies - white whole wheat flour, 50/50 blend of light butter and fat free cream cheese, all egg whites, no yolks, reduction in quantity of things like like nuts and chocolate chips
brownies - white whole wheat flour, all egg whites and fat free vanilla yogurt instead of butter or oil
homemade syrupy fruits - Keep the fruit and some water. Add enough sugar to sweeten, but use corn starch to thicken. 1 cup water, 1 tablespoon corn starch and 1/4 cup sugar makes a nice and sweet syrup. Mix all together very well then heat over high heat, stir continuously until it turns thick. Add your favorite fruit (diced peaches, diced apples, blueberries or whatever) and use it for your favorite fruit based dessert (pie, cobbler, whatever..). Without the corn starch, you need about 2 cups of sugar per one cup of water to get the thickness right which is obviously WAY more calories then the 30 added from corn starch.

I did something kind of intersting this past week... it hit my sweet fix and it was actually not bad for my waist. I had some S/F Chocolate Pudding Cup and a small banana and I 'dunked' it in the pudding, it was really good and it felt like I was eating saomething w. substance,. Could probably 'dunk' strawberries or any other fruit if you wanted too.
Also you could try a sweet cereal (honey nut cheerios) dry... it helps me take the edge off a little bit. Good luck!

Hi MEGANE!
If you want something sweet each day, I say, allow yourself something sweet. Be mindful of the portion size and track it in your nutrition tracker.
If your goal is to eliminate sweets from your diet, start small: cut back, then substitute, then elimiate.
I know what you mean about a piece of fruit not cutting it! Here are some other suggestions:
- yogurt with some jam - a scoop of nutella in your yogurt or on toast - a square of dark chocolate - low fat chocolate pudding
How do you feel about artificial sweeteners? if you're OK with them, look for products sweetened with them, as they generally have fewer calories.
Check out SparkRecipes! If you're into baking, I'm certain there are several low-calorie/healthier sweet recipes.
Good luck!

Good advice! I love chocolate too and what I do is ~ I have a bag of dark chocolate pieces in my freezer and I go in and take out a couple whenever I just HAVE to have chocolate. I put it on my tongue and let it melt slowly, savoring the delicious taste. And that satisfies my craving for sweets. Of course I have other things like Weight Watcher's desserts, they have some decadent chocolate ones without all the calories & fat, I also have Fiber1 bars, etc.
Try some of these things and see if they work for you. Good luck!

I'm with you-I love sugar. I go through a series to avoid eating a ton of it. I start by drinking more water with my meals. Drinking 20 oz with food usually makes me so stuffed that I can't think of sugar (and trust me, sugar is almost a staple in my world). If it's still on my mind, I'll have a small piece of fruit.
If I'm determined to eat sugar, I plan it. For me if I know ahead of time that something sugary is on the way, it keeps me a little more in control during the day. Opt for "healthier" sweets that will allow you to get a satisfying portion without undoing your day: pudding topped with whipped cream, caramel corn (see spark recipes for 100 cal caramel corn), apple slices dipped in a few tablespoons of caramel or chocolate topping, low cal chocolate cookies (I have a triple chocolate cookie recipe that is AMAZING-I'm happy to hand it off if you message me) or check out Trader Joe's for 100 calorie chocolate bars.

I eat a very healthy diet-all whole grains, lean chicken and turkey, lots of fruits and vegetables, and some healthy fats. I don't eat fast food or out much at all for that matter, white bread or pasta or red meat, and I don't drink diet soda. That all being said, I have one major pitfall: I am ADDICTED to chocolate and obsessed with having something sweet every day. I would love to be able to cut back (not out completely, I would be miserable!) but I just can't seem to get over the sugar cravings. I've heard people say that a piece of fruit has satisfied them when they want something sweet. While I love all kinds of fruit, it's just not the same as a cookie or slice of chocolate cake.
If anyone has some tips or advice for me, I'd really appreciate it :)
