Thanks Denise, I never noticed that option to share my manually entered foods. So I did that, and now people should be able to find my entry by searching for: pork sausage raw

If you want to share foods that you have manually entered, you will need to follow the instructions from this page: www.sparkpeople.com/community/help_answer.

As a side question: I manually entered "Pork sausage (raw)" with grams for the unit measure. I got my numbers from the usda database (which does list it by grams). Should not my manually entered foods be available for anyone to use, or is that just private to my own account? Of all the foods I've carefully entered manually, they only seem to show up under my favorites - if I do a general search, I don't see them. Is there anything I need to do to make them public?

Another thing, the entries for links, that say 4/lb or 5/lb, that 4 or 5 means how many links are in a pound. So the 4/lb means 1 link is 4oz, since there's 16oz in a pound.

Thank you so much Denise!

That's quite interesting about the USDA database.... Certainly indicates that its considered "normal" to purchase as pre-portioned--even though those portions might not be even close in size from company to company! :)

This also makes me wonder if the USDA lists nutrients for Pork vs "12%-water-solution added-pork"... I really try to purchase just the plain, old fashioned-right-from-the-pig-pork! I figure I can always water & salt myself if needed while cooking.

thanks again....

Unfortunately, those entries come from the USDA database and only list it as a link or patty. Jimmy Dean's has nutrition info on this product that comes in a roll and lists info for 2 oz, so you might want to use that as an option and enter it manually in your recipe: jimmydean.com/products/premium-pork-regula

Hey folks... Am I just blind? I could not find a listing for plain old Pork Sausage that wasn't in a link or a pattie or a sandwich, etc etc....!

I have a meatloaf recipe which I wanted to calculate the calories for and it is 2/3 ground beef, and 1/3 pork sausage...so a half pound was what I wanted to enter. The closest I could come was Jimmie Dean Maple Sausage, but I know that has sugar too.

Am I really the only one who buys and uses bulk sausage??!
(Yeah..I know...the rest of you eat healthier....but this is a family favorite I'd still like to make. I just won't be eating as much as I used to!)
