I guess this is because we think about calories and food. If I don't think of the food then I am fine!!

I noticed one of the messages said they did not realize they were not getting enough fiber. You can track that on the nutrition page. I do and it gives me confidence I am doing okay or tells what I need to include in my meals that are left! :)

Sometimes eating 2-3 hours works, but for me it never did. I always felt hungrier when I tried that. If you're just starting out a diet plan then sometimes it takes a while to shrink your stomach down. The easiest way is to drink plenty of water and make sure you're following the recommended amount of calories. Fiber also helps make you feel less hungry, that's why popcorn at night is a great snack (air popped or healthypop). Women should NEVER go below 1200 calories unless directed by a doctor, it's very unsafe if it's consistent.

Mix it up to stay motivated!

First get checked out by a doctor to make sure nothing is going on like allergies or GI problems, you may have a simple, easy fixable problem that will make you wish you went for help sooner. I had allergies and i was always hungry. I heard an ulcer can make you hungry since your trying to soothe the pain. Get everything ruled out.

Isn't it funny how all of a sudden you can look down at your stomach and wonder to yourself, "Who put that there"?

It took me a while to figure out I was not getting enough fiber. For several wks, once a day,I ate a banana & an apple together...as a snack. For another snack,I reheated oatmeal & ate a good size bowl with added Benefiber.

If you eat bread, buy the heavier, high fiber type.Remember, if you're eating lots of so called diet foods, you could be missing out on needed fiber & nutrients.Your body will not stand for that. When you're truly hungry,go for fruit & veggies. If you don't want them, maybe it's more being used to/missing eve snacks?

If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got

I remembered something my doctor told me awhile back and I'm trying to incorporate it into this program--FIBER!! She told me I probably am not eating enough fiber which is why I also have that problem of hunger. I know she's right because I don't eat a whole lot of it--I'm not a very good veggie eater although I do eat fruits. Most things that have a lot of fiber will make you feel full for longer. I do eat oatmeal but not everyday. Because I do love fruits, I'm trying to make sure i always have some fresh fruit around to eat when I'm feeling a hunger attack--especially if it's at night.

There are so many delicious variety of apples available--I guess it just depends on what you like. Golden delicious have always been my favorite and believe it or not, not all are created equal!! There's one store here that sells the most delicious, sweet apples although I pay a little more for them. I can find apples and golden delicous everywhere but sometime but not always the same quality. I'd encourage everyone to buy what you know you will eat when it comes to the fruit area--if it tastes better, you're more likely to eat it and crave it! Other apple varities that I like are the Pink Lady (yum, yum, yum!), this is a close second for me to the golden delicious, Gala, Honey crisp. In general, regardless of which type you like, apples as well as other fruits and veggies are an excellent way to get that fiber that we all need.

yeah that helps me, too, somedays, those days when I'm just starved, I often find something to drink. Although I find hot drinks work better than cold ones (usually, at least).

Exactly what Littlebilly said, gotta keep an eye on those calories. It's tough when I only get about 1200 a day, so I really watch them!

Great advice - I like try to eat some simply every 2 to 3 hours - but you can not just eat anything - check to calories - eat fresh fruit or vegies!

I like the food tracker but I can't find how to get the calorie count for the food I add on to it. I'm trying to make my own menu and can't add my calories on the break down. Thanks Laura

Whenever I rejoin WW (it's been many, many times), I feel hungry lots of times at night and sometimes during the day. This last time I mentioned it at a meeting and the leader said, "You are not picking the right foods and you will be successful to the degree to which you satisfy your hungry!" I am on my forth week and I have to say he is right. With only 1200 to 1500 cal I have no room for foods that do not feel me up. Foods that have fiber, air (popcorn) and water (grapes vs raisins).

It is working but I have to be very careful not to get into the "low cal", diet foods like chips and ice cream. I have little room in my calorie count for foods that don't last. Hope that helps. If you go to my SP page I can give you more specifics. Sandy.

Fiber does fill you up. Also, try eating proteins and carbs together (usually 2/3 ratio.) This was suggested to me by a dietitian. They will work together to fill you up for a longer period of time. I'm hypoglycemic, so my blood sugar often dips if I don't eat enough for dinner and by the time I wake up, I am nauseous. I add protein right before bed (since your body doesn't really know time of day in terms of eating, it's really not bad for only 1/2 C of low-fat cottage cheese.) This will often fill me up and get my sugar regulated enough until the breakfast feeding time. :) Hope that this helps.

Why don't you try having a smoothie once or twice a day and adding protein powder to them. They are quite filling and you might find that might help with the hunger. I make them a few times a week for an afternoon snack and they can range from 200-300 calories depending on what you put in them. Or do you munch on almonds or walnuts. They are the healthy nuts with good fats but of course limit your intake. Let us know how you make out and what eventual method possibly worked for you!

Yeah, I am trying all of the tips, but I have always had this problem. I can just finish a big meal and I want to eat again. Maybe out of boredom, or stress. I keep trying to hold off eating, and try to eat the right things.

I have heard that adding more fiber to your diet makes you feel fuller. If you are hungry, try to nibble on Fiber One cereal, or bran. It's good for you, and fills you up. Or, add some flavoured benefibre to your glass of water!

edited to add: But i could be wrong! Someone with more experience will pipe in soon!

I get hungry at night sometimes when everyone is snacking on ice cream and cake ,etc. I get the adkins shake and blend it with ice for a smoothie. No its not the same but it works and you can get into after a while of not having the processed flour and sugary ice cream. I am also drinking around 3 quarts of water a day. At first this was hard but no really. You get used to it.Good luck!!!

Hi, I read your answer, and I also feel hungry all the time. I am trying the South Beach diet. I eat a lot quantity, but it doesn't come out to a lot of calories when I track it all. I do drink a lot as well.

I am eating between 1200-1500 calories a day too but cutting out white refined stuff as much as possible. Whole wheat and fruit/veggies but you must have enough lean protein too. My cravings have long past but in the evening I will slice an apple and put cinnamon on it and have before 8 pm. Other than that, I will have green tea (one or two cups) and just drink water. If I do feel like snacking at some point, I will pop 2 chewable vitamin c tablets in my mouth and that will usually do the trick! It's working for me. Good luck!

With drinking water all day - to eating every 2 - 3 hours and the exercise - I do not feel hungary.

It I do not eat for 4 - 5 hours than I do feel very hungary.

Just have to work on it every day. I cut out the sugar or sweet tea - pepsi etc. That helped - lots.

Hope you find the right combination.

If you are hungary at night - try some fruit - apple or banana etc.

If you are hungry all the time, my first question would be what are you eating? Since I have started eating "right", I can honestly say that I am eating more than I had been eating before and I can also say that I am not hungry. My goal is 1200-1500 cal per day and most days I am at about 800-1100. Just wondering what kind of diet or plan you are doing. Being hungry isn't good!

I was watching Dr. Oz and he said the body does not know how to tell hunger from thirst sometimes so I always drink a tall glass of water or green tea and that helps sometimes.
