I like a bit of low-fat yogurt with my fresh berries. Then just to give it a little crunch, I Tblsp of cereal. It's filing and healthy.

Cauliflower mash potatoes?? YES, they are terrific. Could not believe it. You can even add a little potato too but you don't need to. I got the recipe from Hungry Girl but SP has a similar recipe. It is amazing!!

Cool Whip or yogurt or something else, it sounds wonderful. I'm totally off sugars and starches for another 2 weeks but I will definitely keep this in mind for my next chocolate fix.

I think if one is in a place where some creamy sweet decadent stuff is in order....one must go with the choice that is best for them. Personally, I am having a bit of a chuckle at the self righteous tone the dairy consumers have re: cool whip....perhpas if you'd like to do a bit of research you'd find your dairy (yougurt, whip cream etc) is laden with chemicals and.....pus!!! yum....Im not defending either....just saying, when we chose something like this it isn't for the health benefits...it just allows us to get past a craving and on to better things...moving forward!

Be the change you wish to see in the world.

Sounds very good. I use cool whip for hot cocoa with coffee too. Keeps me out of lots of trouble at night.

Not to beat a point to death here, but maybe a few chemicals in low cal food will keep us from having to take all kind of chemicals in the future in the form of pills for high BP, depression, high cholesterol, etc. just cuz we couldn't maintain a normal weight. Just a thought. Sandy

I am going to make it both ways. I don't always have cool whip or yogurt. It is nice to have a choice.

I don't think it's about whether cool whip is a favorite this is a good recipe offered by someone who truly was excited about finding a treat that MOST people would like and she shared. Kuddos. Both the cool whip version and the yogurt version I HAVe made and both are equally delish. Next time you make this try adding a few almond slivers. My kids call it a low cal. fat free version of a banana split when I add in extra fruit!

HUGS TO ALL

Nancy

I agree about the Cool Whip. That's not 'real' food. Yogurt (plain) or real whipped cream with a touch of sugar would be better. Then you can avoid all the nasty stuff in Cool Whip.

Then again, I've come to love all fruit plain. Now that I've cut out almost all of the sugar from my diet fruit seems very sweet and decadent to me.

I agree about Cool Whip. I'd rather eat real whipped cream than chemicals. But I generally go the low-fat yogurt route myself.

Cool Whip is high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils, etc. Ugh. Not only wouldn't I use Cool Whip for a snack, I wouldn't even buy it for anything!

Suggestion: Use non-fat yogurt instead of non-fat Cool Whip. Yogurt is just as creamy and sooo much more nutritious.

I am so going to try this. I've marked the ingredients on my shopping list in red, so I won't forget anything. Thanks. Sure beats that baked apple and ice cream that I was thinking about. emoticon

OK, so here it is....I took four tablespoons of FAT FREE Cool Whip (30 Cal) and mixed in 1/2 TBLSPN Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Syrup (22.5 Cal) then I added a cup of fresh chopped strawberries (30 Cal)...it totally gave me that creamy, sweet, decadent thing that i was craving at a whopping 82.5 Cal total! Feel like you're doing wrong..when you are really doing right! lol My craving is gone and I'm on to other things!
