WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family! *~ Paula *~

I belong to the BECK DIET TEAM, as I've read the books by Judith Beck PhD "The Beck Solution". She has a workbook as well. She has stayed slim for over 20 years with her method. I got her book at the library and recommend it.
One of her cards says GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN NOW.
We tend to mindlessly eat. Another is ONLY 15% MORE FOR THIS PARTY.
She says that at a special occasion like the 4th of July, allow yourself 15% more, but don't "pig out." Also, you can "bank" calories a day or two before so then you can have more on the occasion, but get back on the scale the next morning. If you are UP, then back off that day as well.

Hello, I am a rural teacher in AZ. I have been thin all my life, but the wrong kind of thin. All my bad eating no exercising has caught up with me. My baby at 35 and some meds changed my body, and my mind. I have spend a seeming unsuccessful journey these last 5 years to fix my old way of doing and thinking. I have learned a lot. But I am still struggling. I have gained 25 and lost back 10 in my health education journey. I would like to know how you all keep the desire and the drive going? how to you say no, what tips do you remember to use in moments of weakness? I know what to do, I just don't know how to control it.
