I would also recommend joining a Spark team or two. Being part of a team, with a small but supportive circle of Spark friends really helps me to stay motivated and accountable.

Hello SHY_Heaven!
My name is Debbie I am a 57 year old wife mother of two grown children and a 6 year old grandson, we live in Wisconsin. I have quit diets so many times I lost count. I would have a bad day or two and oh well mind as well just quit and go back to donuts and ice cream for supper. NO, off the roller coaster, if you fall, get up and start over. You have been her before, I don't know how I can encourage you but to say keep trying! Track your food, make your self accountable! Same with your fitness. Get the bad food out of the house! Even if it is one bad food choice a week. You will start to feel better, in your tummy, more energy, the scale may not even have moved! It is a life style, it is about your health. Join a Spark Team, under Community you need a team with a forum that meets your needs, your interests to keep you encouraged and supported. Look at Articles and Video they have really great and easy recipes, exercise videos of all levels. Loads of information for anyone with any question or need! I belong to Hopeful Hearts, it is religious based and very supportive. You really need emotional and physical help! I hope I have given you a few pointers, keep the faith, start the new journey to good health. And if you have questions please write me! Blessings, Deb

Glad you are back with us Shy Heaven! Hope you are having a great Sunday. I have 3 tips for you right off the bat which should get you started in the right direction!

1. On the "My Spark Points Page" there is a "Welcome Guide" do this so you have an orientation to this site and you'll know where to find everything!

2. Make up your Spark Page and figure out your goals and aspirations so you can always see what you are working towards!

3. You ask how to keep your motivation high!
In the articles section there is a section devoted specifically to motivation which will help you. On your Spark Page make sure you put some photos in there that motivate you. You can also make a vision collage for yourself & find role models that have the attributes you want to cultivate within yourself.

Remember to work on yourself from the inside out so you can be proud of who you are no matter what size you are.

I tried SparkPeople before but didn't have the motivation to follow through the weight loss program. 10 kg later (22 lbs), I'm back. I don't want to be ashamed of my body anymore. I want to feel good in my skin and know that I'm doing all I can to be healthy.

If you have any tips for a beginner like me, I would appreciate it. Also, how do you keep your motivation high?
