I do agree tracking your food, water, sleep, exercise and reducing stress is very important. Looking at this journey as a lifestyle not just as a temporary solution is also key! Reducing salt and sugar were pretty important for me and getting enough rest and relaxation in!
NEVER, EVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF, NEVER! I think people are too quick to give up when the scale doesn't move fast enough or when they screw up some. Its better to get back up on the horse than to have to start over with even more to lose. There are many NSV's (non scale victories) like your clothes fit better, you have more energy, you are losing inches, you are getting stronger. Those things are just as important to track as numbers going down on a scale. Reading the articles is a huge help and as you go along you can put into practise what you've learned!

WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. I am giving this site a try. I've learned (the hard way!) that if I don't "write it down", it's harder to stick with it. I just read an article today about what makes for successful weight loss. In addition to the obvious (eating fewer calories/carbs and increasing physical activity), the third most important thing is to write down and track what you eat and your workouts. It supposedly makes you many times more likely to achieve your goals. What else do you think keeps you successful?
I'm enjoying all you have to say on the subject - reading about it reinforces where I'm headed for me!
