Welcome Jose! You've found a supportive community to help you reach your weight loss goals. We have some excellent teams that can be found by searching under the "community" navigation bar at the top of the page (sorry, I can't make working links on this device).

A few are:

From Mommy to WoWWY

Living Life on a Shoestring

and Working Out at Home.

Many of the SP videos can be done at home without equipment. You can also troll YouTube and I recommend Leslie Sansone Start Walking or one mile to start. There are Leslie Sansone teams if youre interested such as Leslie Sansone Walking DVDs. I suggest these because members who are active in the community tend to see more effective results more quickly with their programs.

Best wishes,
Emmy :))

The best way to start is to set up a spark page. With the page others can give you support.
Ton begin with how much soda or junk food do you buy. If you buy high carbohydrate food those calorie will stop you ever losing weight. There is a search place at the top of the page check out good carbs and bad carbs it will give you a list. Not all carbs are bad for us. Fruit and vegetables are carbs and they help keep us healthy. If you have just had a baby (CONGRATULATIONS !) you should ask your Dr to refer you to a nutritionist. There should be a way to see a nutritionist for free. You and your DH will have to work out what food you can stop buying that has lots of sugar and white processed flour in it. . It is difficult on a budget but you can do it together.

Check out the tracker and it will help you to keep track of your calorie intake.

A really big issue for you will be the walking. In Maine where I live it is hard to walk outdoors. I go to the grocery store or sometimes Home depot. I walk up and down the aisles.
You should start to walk just 10 minutes three times a day. Walk as fast as you can but walking you should always be able to talk, If you are too out of breath slow down and walk slower. Look at the tracker for nutrition. You are determined and I hope you can get started right away. Pat in Maine. Take care and do it together. emoticon

Pat in Maine.
I FEEL Healthier every day with my Spark Tracker.
I will do it slowly I like it that way.

Hello and welcome to Sparkpeople! You have come to the right place for wonderful support!

You sound just like me! On Jan 1 I stepped back on the scale to see my highest weight ever. More than when I was pregnant! So I can totally understand where you are coming from. I just started to cry and knew I had to do something. I'm taking it one day at a time and am feeling GREAT!!! You can do this!!!

Sparkpeople has a lot of great information and specific teams you can join to get even more support! There are so many great people here who can help you with any question or advice. I think having this support at our fingertips can make all the difference in the world. I just started a blog this time too which I am enjoying!

If you need a buddy to walk this journey with, let me know!

Hello, My name is Joee. I am 26 years old and at the largest I have ever been. I am 5' 7" and weigh 270 pounds. I just had my first child 6 months ago and am heavier than I was when I was 9 months pregnant. I would love some help and tips for getting serious about this and how to make those "tough" days a little easier. I want to be a healthy example for my son and want to be a fun mom who can run around and play without having to stop often to catch my breath. My husband and I are on a budget and can't afford a gym membership. Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated! I am going to try to take this one day at a time.
