While I've been a SparkPeople member for almost 5 years, I've really only used it off an on to track my nutrition and fitness. I had found it while I was participating in a "Biggest Loser" bootcamp challenge at a local gym, where we had to submit our nutrition information to our coach weeky. SparkPeople was the easiest site to use, and really gave the best information of those that I found.
While I've never been extremely overweight, I have added just a few pounds or so every year, and am now leaving the "BMI Zone" that tells me I'm at a "healthy weight" (whatever that means!) At 43 years of age, I've committed to getting back in shape. I work out daily (with a day here and there that we miss) with my 24 year old daughter, a mix of strength/cardio dvds (Jillian Michaels, Trainer Bob) and Couch to 5k style "running".
The problem for me came in when I quit smoking in August. After having smoked for just about my entire life (29 years), the pounds started coming. I've really started to try to focus on healthy eating, but when cooking for 4 kids, 2 step kids, my husband and myself, sometimes it's just not that easy to do!
Right now I've got about 25 to lose... hopefully this site can help me to accomplish that!
