It does sound like we have a few things in common. I just weighed again today and have lost 6 lbs since joining 3 weeks ago. My blood sugar is below 120 and I am a happy camper. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for the support

WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Hi - good for you getting some weight off in the first week.
Sounds like we have some things in common. I have two grown kids and 6 grandkids. I can't imagine having to raise any of them, but we have a few of them for months each summer and 2 that we provide daycare 1 day a week.
I've been around Spark a long time, if I can answer any questions, stop by my page or shoot me a Sparkmail. I'm happy to help.
Put some honest effort into it - you'll feel great if you get some weight off. Even a little bit makes a huge difference.
While you are coming up with reasons you can't workout - someone fit is coming up with ways that they can. It all starts in your head.

Just getting started on this. I have been doing spark for 1 week and I actually will weigh tomorrow... but I already know I have lost at least 3 pounds this first week... which is so amazing. Still having some confusion when trying to navigate around in here. But I will succeed.
I live in Northern California, about 2 hours north of San Francisco. I am married with 2 adult children and many grandchildren, which 3 we are raising. My biggest reason for loosing weight is to get my blood sugar down. And so far I have had the lowest reading yesterday in at least a month.
