emoticonFVUSCMOM andemoticon to SparkPeople...Nice to have you with us on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Welcome to Spark!
You can do this! You had the determination to make it to college, so you know you have it in you.

My name is Shari; I have been a Sparker since July 2006, and living with Stage IV breast cancer since 2007.

Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

emoticon I have no more excuses. I am nearly 100 pounds over my ideal weight. I have been creeping up over the past 18 years, and it is time to do something about it. I actually have a moderately active daily routine at work, but I "rest" and eat with abandon when I am at home.

I have been my family's caregiver on top of taking care of myself (or not), which is my patent excuse. When I went to college (first in my family tree to get a degree), I used to give myself pep talks about no one making me do this if I want to quit. Then, I would forge ahead. I need to get that focus for my health and fitness.

When I complained about no time for a fitness routine, my professor used to say, "all brawn, no brains." I clung to that as comfort for not being able to make time for health and fitness while getting degrees and credentials. All that has been very rewarding, but now I am middle-aged, and I want to live beyond retirement with some quality of life twenty years down the road and beyond.

Also, I am a SCUBA diver, and that will become a more enjoyable recreation when I drop sizes.

I love the taste of food, but I love the taste of life even better!
