I did well last Monday. Logged everything before I ate. And I did well until Wednesday (which was my husband's birthday). Chocolate cake and Mexican food for his special day. Lots of calories. I did cut the meal in half and only had a small piece of cake. But, even with that, the calories were huge. Ugh! That would have been fine if I had stopped, but I had to have a small piece of cake on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Why? Anyway, I did very well yesterday, so back on track. I hit a few bumps but I'm not going to let that derail me. I did maintain my weight (thankfully) so no major harm done.

The board's been quite. I hope everyone is doing okay. Remember, even if you have a bad day or week, it's okay. Brush off the dirt and get back on track.

I hope everyone has a great week! Keep pushing, we can do this!!

Yes, just getting back to taking care of myself again. I've lost 17 lbs. in 26 days. It always goes fast at first. I would love to lose another 30 by July. My son is coming to visit this summer and I'd like to be in better shape. I've changed my diet. No more processed food. It's a lot more work in the kitchen, but it pays off. I feel so much better. Good luck to everyone. Keep up the good work. emoticon

Good girl Debbie! So far today so good. I drank some water (sounds silly and simple but not for me, yay), had an egg for breakfast, a salad for lunch, not sure what's for dinner. Sometimes that's my downfall as my husband is a great cook, and retired, and makes yummy stuff that I can't resist some days! Heading home, straight for either the Wii or the treadmill now. I'll log in my food now, and hit the road.

Welcome JLGRISETT and HOLLYINKY!!! This is a great group!

Good luck!

I've been struggling for the past few days. I'm doing an awful job at tracking; entering after I eat. I just logged my calories for the day; thankfully I didn't go over. I'm struggling with my running. Well, I really wouldn't call it running, but walking with some running. But, after yesterday, my hips are killing me. I think I might have overdone it this week.

But, hey, I'm still on SP, still out there trying to run and still have that desire/motivation to get this weight off! I need to shake off this blah feeling. I think it's this crazy back and forth weather.

Anyway, we are all in this together. We are still here and still logging in. I'm making a promise to everyone that I will log my food tomorrow BEFORE I put it in my mouth.

OK Amy we start again Monday...OK? We can do this! Let's give ourselves the weekend to get whatever it is out of our system and get back on track! Deal? I know we can do this.!!! We have four months, that's plenty of time. Am going to get myself a nice water bottle and tie it to my right hand! The warmer weather is coming, will be outside working in the yard very soon, that will help too. It's been a long cold lonely winter....hey, isn't that a song verse? Here Comes the Sun...... emoticon

Hey everyone. I haven't been a good supporter.

Kathy- I'm in the same boat. I have no idea why I am making this much harder than it is. Now I have 3 months left and haven't even lost any more. It's all my fault, I know.

Well my friends I'm not doing so well. I started out really strong, writing down everything I was eating, keeping track, (I know this is what works best for me too) and then I fell off the wagon simply by stopping documenting it all. I started eating more than I should have, and stopped exercising for a bit. I'm back to exercising, and trying to eat better and less, but doing VERY POORLY drinking the water Amy, sad to say. I just can't get myself together for some reason right now. I mean I look at what all you folks are saying, especially Debbie, who is really doing well, new wardrobe and everything...and I too can have an entire new wardrobe (my wardrobe runs from size 6 to size 16, crazy right?) if I could only get myself back on track and start losing again. I lost 6 lbs up front and early, then just fell off the wagon. Damn! No matter what anyone tells me, I do also think the medication I am taking to slow my metabolism down (I have hyperthyroidism) plays a part in all this. I am on a very small dosage, but still I think it's not helping my situation. So frustrated, more so that I can't get my head in the game to be successful. emoticon sorry to vent..I hope you all are doing well.

Amy the Y has so many good programs. I don't know about the Y you do to but the one use has so many different exercise classes. I like the water classes. I do about 2-21/2 hours a day in the pool. I had 2 knee replacements so I'm going slow on the high impact classes. I find the treadmill boring. I do ride the bike and row. Hopefully you can find a few fun classes to try. good luck

Hello Amykblue!
I want to lose 25 pounds myself, hopefully by June. I'm new to sparkpeople so I don't know how the buddy system works; could you introduce me to it please? :) I am currently struggling with exercising and nutrition after losing about 16 pounds of my weight, and I can't do much about it because exam season is approaching in universities and I don't know what to prioritise.

Hello all, yep its been a while since i've been on here.. Sadly i haven't been able to exercise Like i wanted to.. I got through the 2nd week of the couch to 5k and haven't been able to do it since :-( but next week (if not sooner) i'll be back on track i haven't gained so thats a plus but i am still going to meet my goal of 30lbs by july! I will be working my butt off to get there but i HAVE to do it! I don't want to let myself down again by missing another goal!

Debbie, you are an inspiration and i'm jealous 😊 you are doing fantastic! Keep up the good work!
SINGKITTY, i love the couch to 5k app and it does allow you to play your playlist on your phone or if you have a music app they can both be playing.. That is the free app version, not sure if you pay for the couch to 5k you might have more options

Everyone's been quite. I hope everyone is doing okay.

I think I've fallen off of my plateau. The scales have read for the past 2 days a three pound weight loss since Wednesday. I really want to believe this but not sure what I've done differently. I did increase my exercise minutes. So, perhaps that was the key. Anyway, keeping the fingers crossed that those 3 pounds won't show back up again.

I cleaned out my closet today. I was amazed at how many clothes I can fit back into now! It's like gaining a new wardrobe minus the cost. I do intend to buy a whole new wardrobe when I meet my goal weight. I even have my husband's blessing to do so. I don't think he realizes how much it would cost. ;-0

Take care everyone! Keeping pushing and don't give up!!

Hello everyone. I'm an old Weight Watcher fan and this site is so much like the online site for WW but it's Free!!! Wanting to lose 30 by July. I will be turning the big 50 in August and need to get fit. I walk my dog almost every day including throughout the winter. I really enjoy getting out in the neighborhood for a brisk walk. SMILHEIRO I was wondering about the couch to 5K. I've heard of that and that there is music and props that you can download. What are you using as you do this? Would seriously like to buddy up with someone my age and my weight loss goal and challenge each other. Keep pressing on!

Amy, thanks...that one sounds good. I'll try that one ........this morning I made one with 1/2 cup strong coffee, 3 tbsp. peanut butter, banana, 1/2 cup 2% milk, 1 tbsp. Quaker Oats, 2 tbsp. Blue Agave and some ice. It was pretty good I have to say...tomorrow I'll try a fruit one...I have a few recipes I want to try. Appreciate you sharing and anyone else that wants to share a favorite! thanks all...have a great day!

Hi Kathy. I like smoothies but don't have alist of recipies. I usually make one with banana, vanilla Greek yogurt, strawberries, and pineapple juice. Sometimes instead of strawberries, I put pineapple and coconut. I am afraid to add kale and spinach. If I didn't like it, I'd be upset if I had to throw it out. Got any good smoothie recipes? What is your favorite?

Hi all, been gone a bit, no good reason, fell off track for a week or so. But I'm back. Anyone into smoothies? Thought I might try having a healthy smoothie for breakfast.....I am not a breakfast eater unfortunately, never really that hungry in the mornings. I have to force myself to eat when I do. I'm happy with a cup or two of coffee and that's it. So found a few good smoothie recipes I might try. If anyone does smoothies, am interested in knowing what your favorite is. I'll do this smoothie thing only if they're really tasty! My husband sometimes makes them for himself, adding protein powder. I might try a few I found which adds oats. Hope everyone is doing well. It's good to be back! I hate when I fall off track like that....when I'm on I'm really good, when I'm off I'm really bad.... emoticon

Hi PHOENIX829 - I thought I was more of an independent exerciser but now I am a unmotivated exerciser. ha ha. I am trying to eat less junk focusing on eating more veggies and fruits. I also am trying to drink 64 oz of water a day. As far as exercise.....it's switching around all over the place and not staying with it. Hopefully the Y will help. I like that my girls can use the treadmill, too. So we can all walk at our own pace. Thank you, I need as much LUCK as possible!

Debbie - You rock!! that is amazing to lose 26 lbs. If I could just motivate myself to do the same.

Bearly55 - Carbs are my kryptonite. I lost weight quickly going no/low carb but then put all the weight back on plus more. I realized that I needed to eat less and not totally eliminate it because I couldn't make it a lifelong decision. I think that's a great idea to eat less carbs, though. It will help a lot. Good luck! I'd love to hear what your meal plan is like.

Sherrie - how is your couch to 5k going? I hope really well.

Welcome ShanieMiller.

Hi AMYKBLUE - I've been a member of our local Y for awhile now, and I love it! I'm more of an independent exerciser, so I haven't taken advantage of any of the classes, but I know a lot of people who have. Zumba in particular is really popular here, anyway, as well as Bodypump and the Boot Camp classes.

Best of luck to you!

I tried the couch to 5k last fall. But I was having some issues with breathing and technique. I did complete a 5k (walking) though. This time I've joined a group with Fleet Feet. The program is very similar to the couch program but the biggest difference is running with a group. We run twice a week together plus I run once at home. I'm up to 2 1/2 minute running following by 2 minutes of walking intervals for 1.75 miles. I'm very very slow. But, I'm out there.

My diet is basically trying to avoid processed foods as much as I can. I gave up sodas last year. I'm also going back to eating the real stuff (but smaller quantities) versus the light/no fat stuff. I eat a lot of fruit. I've almost eliminated sweets. I eat what I want but with the goal to be healthy and within calorie range.

By the way, I'm wearing a pair of jeans today that I haven't worn in years!!! emoticon

Congratulations Debbie... !!!!!

Hi Bearly, Oh those carbs are what mess me up as well and I loves them. I have joined a few challenges and groups that I found of interest that seems to help when you go in a log and chat.

I'm down 26 pounds today. I will update the tracker tomorrow (provided the scales have the same number). I'm losing about 1/2 to 1 pound a week. I would like for it to be more per week, but I know, slow and steady wins the race.

I'm working on tracking before I eat. Doing better, but not great.

My run last week was fast; 13 1/2 for one mile. But, I was sucking air. I slowed it down this week and did better. But, still I'm frustrated. I want to run faster. I guess I'm impatient. I'm one of the slowest runner/walkers in the running group. Most of them are in shape just trying to run a 5k. I need to remind myself that it's not a race against them but a race with myself to do better everyday.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Hey everyone! I'm still trying to move along! We joined the Y which I hope will help tremendously. I just can't get motivated to put a video in and get in that pattern yet. I believe that with the classes at the Y, I can meet some like minded people who want to get into shape. I'm didn't eat so well over the weekend = lots of junk. I did good Monday and plan on following through the whole week eating good choices.

I hope everyone is doing great and keeping up with exercising and eating right....and getting that water in.

We still have 4 months to July!!!

Sharie - Have fun with the couch to 5k! I think that is something that would be good for me to start at the Y. What day are you on?

RAINA413 - Congrats on your success!!! I hope that I can follow in your footsteps!

I've been a bad spark buddy. I haven't been logging in often as I'd like. Sorry.

Welcome ALGRIF40, Nancy, RDHUJAR, and GerryB561. Sparkpeople is awesome! Now if I'd just take advantage of what it has to offer.

So I wanted to try something new. It's a meditational CD for weight loss. I am going to listen to it tonight and see if it helps. I think I'm just stuck in a phase that I can't get out of. I keep thinking that I'm worthless and why even try because I'm just going to fail. I constantly sabotage myself and others around me are doing it to ( not purposefully ). This will put my thoughts in a better perspective, I hope. The bad thing is, I know that if I exercise daily, I will not be in such a sad state. I know that chemicals in my brain will actually put me in a better mood. It's just getting me motivated to DO IT!! ha ha.

Kathy - I am so PROUD of you for trying to get your WATER in!!!! Don't you feel so much better? I hope so. It really helps with your appetite, doesn't it? I hope you get back into logging your food in. I suffer from GERD if I eat late, too so I totally understand about being uncomfortable at night. Hang in there and I hope you cut off your eating at least 3 hours before you go to bed.

Suzipam1 - Journey it is! I haven't even lost any more than the 7 lbs I initially lost. But I am glad that I didn't gain after all the poor choices I made this week.

GERRYB561 - I am sorry you lost your job. I hope you find one soon. This is a great time for you to focus on yourself just like you said.

CAPTATHLETICA - 71 lbs!!! Way to go!!!! You are awesome and such an inspiration! Glad to hear from you and to hear you are still at it!

ALGRIF40 - Whew you have alot on your plate! 60 hours a week, getting your masters, newly divorced, AND having 2 kids to take care of is a handful. Hang in there. Spend that 30 minutes on yourself, you deserve it. 3 days a week sounds reasonable. Keep us posted, I hope you accomplish your goals! We are rooting you on!!!

Hey Gerry! Welcome here. Before I signed up on here I was about to purchase weight watchers online. They offered "this and that" which I thought I could get no where else, until I found this site. This site offers an abundance of information all for free! Not to forget the amazing people here to help us. I've received lots of help here and know I wouldn't have been able to lose as much as I have without these wonderful people. Take it one day at a time and don't focus solely on the number on the scale! Monitor inches, blood pressure, overall mood, reflexes, and other non weight related achievements. Overall, Never give up!!!! I'm here if you ever need help.

Take it one day at a time. :)

Hi everyone- I'm new here and have a lot of weight to lose. I lost my job last week after 12 yrs but I am actually excited to use the time to focus on getting healthy and fit. I can walk anytime now- not just at 5 AM! that's a good thing. I am trying to learn more about nutrition and eating clean. This forum seems like it's what I need now. I have tried Weight Watchers recently but have had to drop that due to the cost. This site has everything they have for free. My short term goals are to walk 1 mile 5 days a week, and track my food daily. Thanks everyone

Hey Everyone! I haven't posted in a while but I think about all of you every day. I hope you guys are closer and closer to reaching your goals. What I've found that helps me is to NOT focus on the weight loss, but to focus on other things. Like for me I find my reflexes are so much better now than when I was so overweight. Find something fun like that to motivate you because I know how bad it is to see no weight loss on the scale and then feel like giving up. I wish you all the best!!

Take it one day at a time. :)

Robin-I've been doing SP for a few weeks and find it fun, interesting and motivating. I am 55 years old and want to lose 40 pounds. I am motivated by several factors but one big one is that I have high blood pressure and all of the medicines that I have taken give me a dry cough that makes me nuts. If I lose some weight, I can probably get off of the medicine. I have been on every diet known to man and have been successful on a few of them but this program seems to be the most well rounded and I am not stressed out about having to pay a weekly fee like I was with Weight Watchers so staying on it feels more like a game. As silly as it may be, I get excited about my Spark Points.

Welcome ALGRIF40 and Nancy! This is a great group, you'll like it here. Well I'm doing ok with the exercise, but slacking on the dieting.....and I lost interest in posting what I'm eating everyday...that's not good at all. I have to get back on track too! I can feel a change in how my clothes are fitting, but don't see the scale moving much. I feel good health wise...my issue with Gerd is getting a little better, but I am really trying to not eat as much and not eat late at night. I think that is key and seems to be what triggers my acid reflux at night when I go to sleep. It's horrible. I have to sleep practically sitting up some nights. I know I can be my own worst enemy so I'm really trying to be good about this.....
And forcing the water Amy, you would be proud of me! Have a great week everyone....

Oops. Forgot to introduce myself. I'm new to sparkpeople. 2 days in. Stopped taking diet drugs and want to do it right this time! I've got 20-30 lbs to lose and work about 60 hours a week. Newly divorced single mother of 2. New job and working on my masters at the same time. Whew! Definitely a time problem here!

I am in the same boat. I already get up at 430 for work! Don't get home until 6 then I have to do dinner, clean up, kids homework, my homework, house chores, blah blah. Needless to say, no exercise then! I'm setting a goal of getting up and working out 30 min at least 3 times this week. Painful!!

Hi everyone! Welcome KBS2344.

Debbie - congrats on the continuous inches and weight loss! 14.5 minutes is great! It's a lot better than what I would do starting off.

Kathy - way to go making yourself get on the treadmill.

Anna - I'm in for waking up early to get at least 10 minutes in the morning three days a week. It sounds doable and might be what I need to slowly adjust to waking up earlier to exercise. Want to start Monday?

Rachel - I'll have to search for meet up groups in the area. It's hard to match up times with some friends that do exercise. It may get easier once the weather warms up. I am a bad over eater. The best thing to do is plan your meals out and eat every2 to 3 hours. Drinking water really helps too.

I have not lost anything and didn't gain. I know I haven't been doing good with eating.

- Amy

Wow, I realized I haven't made a comment in awhile. My weight loss is slowing down but the inches are coming off. I lost three pounds from last week (weighed on Tuesday) but I was back up 2 lbs today. Frustrating but I just need to stay the course.

I'm getting into a bad habit of not logging my food until later in the day. Though I've stayed in my calorie range, I need to concentrate on entering my food BEFORE I eat.

I started my 5k team training on Tuesday. I forgot to look at my watch, but I think I completed a mile in 14 1/2 minutes. I know it's not a fantastic time but it's much much better than last year at this time.

ADGEVERS: I'm all for getting up early in the morning and exercising. I always feel so much better when I do. It's out of the way and I feel ready to tackle the day. But, man, it's hard to get out of bed at 5 am and start exercising. But, I'm in. I will try to get up every morning and exercise before the day starts.

I hope everyone has a great week!!

I already get up at 4:45am and am out of the house by 6:00 am and in my way to work. I just can't exercise in the mornings. Wish I could because there are days that I just don't feel like exercising when I get home from work. I have to push myself to do it some days. Good today, jumped on the treadmill as soon as I got home.

So we all have the same goal here, so I was thinking of setting out a little something for each of us to try for the week. For myself, everything is saying try exercising first thing in the morning and I keep saying if I look at the clock half hour before it is scheduled to go off I am going to get up but it has yet to happen.

So here it is, how about we all try to get up a lousy 10 mins earlier, two to three times this week and get 10 mins of moving in before we start our day. I know, I can tell you all I will have a hard time with this one as I am soooo not a morning person, but I will give it a try, anyone else? emoticon

Anna - That is awesome you found a friend to do a 5k with! Sounds like you are right on track. Get that treadmill rolling!! At least you stayed within your calorie range....even though the foods weren't great.

Kathy - Woohoo! Get that water in! Proud of you! So glad to hear from you and you are back on track.

Rachel - Thank you for the kind words. I have been dusting my knees off alot and trying to get back on track. ha ha. That is cool you found a group through college. I wish there was a way I could find a work out group. Even a group that would take turns watching kids so you could exercise.

Okay, I am back on track and want to focus on eating better. I don't think that I will be able to exercise today because it will be a full day of doing things but I will make it happen Wednesday. I need to log in here every day. I feel that when I do, I am more motivated. When I don't, I give into food way too much.

How is everyone doing today?

Welcome SPARKMEFIT and THEVOW2013 and anyone else I missed.

You have made an incredible journey THEVOW2013! That is amazing! 130 lbs lost!

Hi all....well as for me I took the last three days off also Amy...I mean completely...bad I know but I'm back on track today. I didn't overeat really, but I did treat myself to a real hamburger and fries which I haven't had in forever!! And a couple of glasses of wine. I don't stress anymore when I falter...I just make up my mind to get back on track and do it. Hope everyone had a nice Valentines day last week. I know I did....hubby made me a lemon cheesecake which was the beginning of my downslide.......but it's all good now. Wishing everyone a great week...drink water!

So my weekend was ok. I stayed in my calories but with all the wrong foods. So a friend of mine invited me to join her team for a 5k walk/run happening mid July, so I guess I am clearing off the treadmill.

Well welcome to those who just joine emoticon d and keep fighting to the rest of yah.
