WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Hi Katie, It's hard, not impossible, to give up comfort and junk foods. It must be done for your health. These foods don't nourish you. Use the nutrition tracker on this website to watch your caloric intake. Learn to love carrot sticks. Get some physical activity every day. Keep building on your activity. You'll get there.

Hi all, my name is Katie. I'm 26, married, and living in the US. My husband is an English citizen and we have been trying to complete his immigration paperwork to move to the US. This has taken over 2 years so far, and the separation from my loving husband is very tough on my day to day life.
This has led to a lot of stress eating and comfort foods. I have been overweight since I hit puberty, or so it seems, and it has only gotten worse these last 2 years. I'm tired of feeling sorry for myself, of all the aches and pains, stress, and general unhappiness. So....
I'm determined to be as happy and healthy as I can while I wait for my husband to join me. I am 5'3" and almost 200lbs. My end goal is to lose 80lbs. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.
