I also have a lot of pain when exercising, I have degenerative disc disease and I have tried many different exercises that simply hurt too much to do, like everyone else said walking. I also found a good dvd. here is the link to it: www.safeexerciseforweightloss.com/ it starts out slow with a lot of breathing techniques and stretches to get you warmed up, but then it gets into real exercises that I believe will work if I keep at it as recommended.
good luck, and congratulations on your weight loss so far!

Welcome to Spark,
Don't forget to track all your food too. Exercise helps, but for me tracking my food dis essential!

Hello Smiley!
Welcome to Sparkpeople and congratulations on all your success!!!! I have arthritis in my spine, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue plus heaps of past injuries, so I feel your pain! LOL I am a do now, think later person....lots of fun but get hurt being silly!!! :)

Walking walking walking...swimming swimming swimming...biking biking biking...and some light resistance training a couple times a week...rest days are also important, but even on those days with arthritis, a small walk is good.

YOU CAN DO THIS...:) Eat clean and healthy and just keep moving. Stay positive and believe it will happen! :)

Severe arthritis knee pain is what induced me to start exercising. I started off on a stationary bike for 15" daily. If you have a broadband connection, I also suggest watching some of the videos. You may also find that you need to ice your joints after exercise; I did. Now I can do almost any activity, but I won't run because of the damage it does to your knees. Make sure you use no or low impact if the arthritis is in your knees. I use an elliptical trainer, the bike and walk.
