WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. One thing that I find helpful is setting little goals that I can feel good about. I am NOT a runner so one of my first goals was to walk/run a mile... no stress... no competition... just get the mile done. When I did it I FELT SO GOOD! Tonight was the first time I have ran 2 laps around the track without stopping. You have to celebrate the little successes along the way. I DO NOT FOCUS ON THE SCALE! I think that is crazy!

Welcome! Have you tried joining some sort of workout class? I found a group of ladies in my area that do a dance-type class, so I just started that up. I found out about the group on Facebook. I'm from a small town in the middle of nowhere, so I would image any larger town would have to have something similar. Otherwise, do you have a bicycle? I love my alone bike-time! Best of luck to you! I truly hope you find some workout buddies!!!!

Hello everyone, long story short....I have been unemployed since April (after 30 years), turned 50 at the beginning of this month,not overweight but flabby and gaining inches fast (I looooove my sweets!), and haven't been motivated to exercise like forever! I walk in the morning on occasion but that is about it. I am not in the right circles to find friends in the neighborhood to find a workout partner (I have tried believe me!). I am not a couch potato as I love to clean so I'm not sitting on my couch everyday eating bon-bons! I have 5 grandchildren who keep me busy a few times a week but I need more activity and just don't have the desire to do it. 20 years ago I actually taught aerobics! Nice to meet you all and I am excited to be here.
