Oh, you're very welcome! I know how frustrating this is - and what a wrench it can toss into a person's best-planned efforts to lose weight. (As you said, emoticon :) That's a message board I mentioned there, but if you want to take a look at Spark's 486 (count 'em! ;) SparkTeams related to various medical conditions, click on this link:

I have a handful of medical problems which make me less mobile than most people here, so I had to adjust the number of calories I eat accordingly. I ate 1,200/day during my weight-loss phase, also following some additional recommendations my internist made for other medical problems (it's fun, fun, fun to be my age - LOL!). Spark - and many other good authorities - don't recommend going under 1,200 calories, as that's the caloric level at which a person can obtain minimal nutrition. So, that's what I did for my own situation, and it worked.

There are a lot of ways to lose weight even with mobility limitations, so I hope that might help you feel a little better about this. Don't hesitate to stop by my SparkPage if there's any other way I can help...and I wish you best of luck here :)

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so discouraged, MIDDLET83. I think you're in lots and lots of company, though, in finding that a medical setback stood between you and working out. Reverting to older, less healthy eating habits is a temptation - sometimes, quite a strong one - when mobility is limited and/or boredom sets in, as that often predisposes many toward wanting to eat more. I know it was a real temptation for me several years back when I broke my lower leg and was immobilized for six weeks, having to keep that leg elevated.

It's been my own experience that caloric intake - especially when mobility's impaired - becomes extremely important. I found some older, 2011 entries on one of Spark's Staying Motivated message boards, "Medical setbacks." If you take a look at the discussion, you might get a sense of how to adjust your thinking and mindset to help direct you onto a more helpful path...

I am worn out, and can not get started, AGAIN! I was doing great until a medical setback stopped me from working out. I used that as an excuse to start the "old" eating habits again and now I feel horrible. emoticon
