Some interesting stuff here! I always thought it was a bad idea to go below 1200 calories because that puts your body in starvation mode. However, we all respond to things differently, so try going for 1200ish calories a day and see how that feels. you can adjust as needed.

Good luck!

Hi, first let me say your goal is absolutely attainable. 1200 calories is plenty if you watch what you eat. There are many days I can't get up to 1200 and I don't feel hungary. You must be honest with what you eat....if it goes in your mouth it goes in the computer. Then be sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water, 10 is better. And exercise. Even a short walk is better than nothing.
I went from 234 to 206.6 in 4 months. (9 years ago I lost 108 lbs in 10 months, but gained 35 of it back. That's what I am working on now.)
Can't wait to hear your success story begin to unwind as you attain your goal, slowly. YOU CAN DO IT!!! I'm cheering for you ALYSSG228. All is know is keep moving.
Don't know about how many calories we burn, hopefully someone out there can help you,. All is know is KEEP MOVING. Lynn

Hey there,
I'm 5'4" and my starting weight was 185 pounds, I'm now down to 168, but I try and aim for 1,200 to 1,500 (max, I never get to 1,500)
It's been working really well for me so far.
If you are eating healthy, 1,200 calories a day will keep you full.
Keep in mind that healthy diet choices need to go hand in hand with calories.
If you are eating highly processed food that contains a lot of calories, your calories will add up quickly without eating much.
Stick to fruits and veggies as snacks to fill you up during the day.

You can add me if you like, or message me =)

An hour on the treadmill, walking on 9 at 3 miles per hour will burn about 600 calories. Add in weight training, and its a great workout. Be certain you are consuming enough carbs and protein to support this! You would only do the weight training 3 days a week or so. Don't fool yourself that a walk is a walk is a walk. If you walk a level surface for an hour, you'll burn about 200'ish calories.

I can tell you that I am 5'6" and doing 1000-1200 calories a day and am satisfied and not starving but I'm very careful to get my protein and fat, and just enough carbs to keep my energy up. I avoid sugar, but will allow a treat like a sorbet. I try to get my snacks filled with fruits now instead of chocolate.

I wonder if your calculations say to eat what you say, have you tried it? I'm bigger than you and feel very satisfied with the food I eat, which is about what yours is recommending. My recommendations were about 1500, but I'm past menopause and life is not fair when that happens so I had to adjust everything and work twice as hard as my old younger self :) Good Luck!

In order to loose one pound a week, you need to create a weekly caloric deficit of thirty five hundred calories, or five hundred calories a day (500x7 days= 1 pound of weight loss per week) This means that by cutting out 500 calories of unnecessary calories each day or burning 500 calories a day by exercising - or both- you'd be able to drop a pound or more a week. On average, you eat fifteen to eighteen hundred calories a day to loose around two pounds a week, as long as you stay active. Now some people can burn 500 in a day and some people cant. See what your body can do.

Hi there, everyone's body is different however this is what you can do to test the waters. Try for 1 week & see how your body responds to 1400 or 1500 calories. Log everything here so you know what you ate and any changes. What helps me w/ calorie burn, I bought a calorie counter watch (Wal-Mart) that shows how much I've burned in a work out. I know what I'm taking in & what I'm taking out. I'm not a nutritionist and don't want to get into the "caloric deficit" I say find what works for you stick to the plan & be patient.
