It is NOT too late. I am 56 and had arthritis in my knees so bad that I could hardly walk and was anticipating surgery. I started using a stationary bike to strengthen the auxiliary muscles to make recovery faster and easier. Now, 124# lighter, I no longer need surgery. You can do it, too.
