Hi, first of all, you are here! That doesn't sound like much, but it is! Asking for help is huge on our life's journeys!
I've been here for almost 5 yrs now, was very successful at the wt loss the first 3 yrs losing 75 pounds. Then I hit a wall with menopause & now I struggle with just not gaining. There have been times when I just wanted to quit, but I am so thankful I didn't but I came here to SP almost daily, even during the down times, and just reading others stories and fellow Sparkers comments would lift me just high enough to keep me going.
I have learned so much about myself, about health matters (even though a nurse), and have made some wonderful friends who are more like family to me now. I still struggle with losing the rest of my weight, but believe if I never give up, I will one day reach that goal.
Exercise-I hate that word! For me, it has to be something I enjoy or I won't keep at it.
I'd suggest trying new things, something you've always wanted to do. I started out playing my kid's Wii games, and soon found a love for tennis and badminton-my favorite things (hence my username RACKETMOM). And I also enjoy pushmowing the grass now, something I could never do before because I'd get winded and my legs cramped).
Recently, I read the book by Geneen Roth, I believe it's called When Food Is Love, or something like that. While I found a lot of it boring and didn't apply to me, there was lots of it that I could relate to, and it got me started back focusing on eating when only physically hungry and stopping when full instead of counting calories and 'dieting' So far it is working for me. Still hard sometimes but will be worth it in the long run.
Just stick with it, sometimes it takes awhile to find what works best for YOU!!!
