I'm Jen & new to the Sparkpeople. In my early 30's, I was in the best shape of my life, and I thought nothing could stop me...that is, until I got plantar fasciitis in my mid 30's. That was the first road block.
It took over a year to finally conquer that beast. I swam, iced my foot, did stretches, road my bike and changed my focus from aerobics/zumba to weight training, & I was able to maintain my weight.
I loved weight training, & I was good at it...until beast #2 presented itself - patellar tendinitis. That stopped me in my tracks - no more lunges, squats & bending down of any kind. Walking up stairs was also very painful. So what did I do? I got depressed, quit the gym, became sedentary & grew soft around the edges (& yes, indulged a little more than I should have!)
I'm tired of looking in the mirror & not recognizing myself. I'm turning 40 in 4 months, & I want to get back to the way I was. My goal is to lose at least 10 lbs by then & become more tone.
I'm hoping this website can be a beacon of light and inspiration to find my way back to my former self.
My knees still bother me, but I'm able to walk the trails around my home & perform some leg/knee strengthening exercises.
I look forward to my journey with Sparkpeople and hope that in 4 months I will be a healthier, happier me! :)
