I know this is an old post, but I thought what the heck, I'll try a reply.

I had ACL reconstructive surgery in May 2012 - I actually severed my left ACL and tore up my meniscus (cartilage) in an Ultimate Frisbee while lunging for the disk. My surgery took place almost a full 6 months after my injury and was to replace the ligament with some of my Hamstring.

Due to the extent of the damage and how weak my leg was by the time I got into surgery my recovery has been long, hard and is still ongoing. How is your knee doing? What level of activity or excercises are you up to? I thought maybe we could swap some stories and information on what has and hasn't worked if you're interested.

Hi everyone! I am new to this site and beyond motivated to work hard.
A week ago, I had ACL reconstruction surgery and it's been a rough week getting stronger. But this injury has really fueled something inside of me. I don't know if it's because I am pretty much isolated to the couch ..but I know that I am not going to take my health for granted again. I did, prior to this, and now that I can't do anything I enjoy, I can't wait to be back at it and in the best shape of my life. I know that there is a healthy skinny me inside and I feel as though I finally have the motivation to become that girl, again. So, I'm going to be trying to loose weight while being slightly handicapped. And trying new things. Once my incisions heal, I think I will be doing some kind of water aerobics to relieve the pressure from my knee and working on some upper body condition while building up my knee strength.

I want to be in shape so that this summer I can participate in some fun 5ks and go to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota with my youth group kids.

So if you know of any exercises that I can do that don't require much use for legs, let me know. I will be cycling soon. As of right now, I can't even do a full bike rotation while pedaling, but hopefully that will become a good exercise for me.

Anyone else have ACL surgery before?
