I was surprised when my evaluation said the same thing. 1200 calories is the amount of calories someone might be eating to maintain weight at the mid 100 pounds. So someone weighing 300 pounds should be able to lose weight with a few more calories and not be light headed etc. Be sure you are drinking enough water. In any other weight loss plan I've been on some one our size needed strict supervision with that few calories. I change the upper limit of my program.

emoticon emoticon emoticon Please check in with your doctor and review where you are now. It's important to get a handle on the dizziness you are experiencing. Also, there are resources on Sparkpeople to check out info on calories etc. It seems that if a person cuts calories too much, the body is programmed to slow down metabolism, so, maybe you need more than 1200 calories a day at 325 pounds. This is more of a journey not so much a sprint. Check out the Slowest Loser Spark Team. Remember to enjoy the journey.

That's weird. I'm new, as well so I'm not entirely sure but I weigh a bit less than that and it has my minimum calories as over 1600. I would reenter the information and see if it comes up differently. I really think that 1200 calories would put you in starvation mode and has especially since you're feeling dizzy.

Hello, and welcome back!

I weigh 321 and I eat 1690 calories a week. So it sounds about right but it also depends on how much you are burning a week as well. I am set up to burn 2500 a week so I can eat a little more.

Hi and welcome to Spark!

The calories sound right. Did you check with your doctor before starting the diet? If not, you might want to give them a call and let them know you started this and you are feeling dizzy.

Take good care of yourself!!

Hello,

9 days ago I rejoined spark people weighing 325 lbs. My goal was to get under 300 by April 25th. According to the calculator I should eat between 1200 and 1550 calories a day. It is working and I have lost weight the first week but I can't help but wonder if someone my size doesn't need to be eating more? I don't feel hungry but have been feeling dizzy. I don't know if it is my body that's still in shock or a touch of the flu.

Does my calorie count sound right?

Thanking you in advance for your feedback.
