It works due to several things, one of which is electricity. But that is not important now.
Go to trackers and input the food you have eaten and your workouts. Enter all the food. It really helped me pinpoint those foods that were massively full of calories so I could at least regulate or avoid them.
You can also download the Sparkpeople app on a smartphone so you can track food right after you eat - I think its incredibly convenient.
