Hi, Jessica! I want to second that welcome. You are here for the right reason: lifestyle changes that will stay with you the rest of your life. Make them gradual, sane, meaningful and get the support you need to keep moving forward. For motivation, first, hold up your primary goal of health and fitness, and be sure to write about the values behind those goals. And then aim for the rewards you promised yourself. A vacation is a very cool reward! Make sure the timeframe is realistic and set small goals to reach and reward yourself for along the way. That is the key to maintaining your momentum, which is actually what is behind "motivation". Spark People Community is very wonderful for support. Blog, post on the Boards, huddle with Teams and especially be sure to read and post on other members' posts with encouragement and support, cuz that will help you even more than it helps them! Get Sparking towards that vacation!

You’ll get where you want to go as long as you are taking more steps in the right direction than the wrong one.

emoticon Jessica!
You have taken the first step to a slimmer, fitter you! There is so much here to help you reach your goals and keep you motivated- one good way is joining a few Sparkteams and using the community boards to interact with others with goals similar to your own. Start a sparkpage, write a blog- I find writing everything keeps me accountable a lot easier...
Anyway, good luck with all your goals,
hugs,
'Kat

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica. I am 27 (at least for another monthemoticon) and I have done everything but change my lifestyle.

In high school and college I was annorexic. I met my husband (boyfriend at the time) who was the first to figure out something was "wrong" with me and he helped me get over the anorexia. He saved my life. Problem is that now I realize just how much I love food and am now an overeater couch potato. I tried diets, pills, Sensa and even a plan my doctor put me on (not those B-12 shot plans).

My father used to be obese too and he changed the way he lives. He eats healthy and exercises. He told me over and over again that I have to change my lifestyle. So I have. Since December. I stepped on the scale and it said 216! emoticon I imediately dumped all those fresh baked cookies in the house into the trash and within a week I was 212. I started to watch what I eat and walking. Today (a month later) I am still 212.

I decided to join SP in hopes that I would find the motivation, friends, and advise I need to reach my goals. I decided to reward myself with a vacation.emoticon I have not been on vacation since 2007 and my goal is to go on a cruise in September at 145lbs.

I need your help. I have tried to do this whole thing myself and have failed. I sincerely appreciate any advise you have to offer, even if it is just a good ol' kick in the butt. I look forward to making friends and also helping others with their goals. emoticon

I'm not here to just change my weight. I am here to change my life!
