Thanks. It really helps to know that there's a safe place to just be real. I'm working my way through the protocols and ways to use the site, and it seems really fantastic--just a bit overwhelming for a newbie. emoticon

Hello there, of course you can pick and choose. Spark encourages all sorts of ways to get in better shape and health and most of all stick with it. There are lots of support teams for different diet plans. Feel free to use anything from Spark that works for you and leave the rest. That's what I do. I love the nutrition tracker, I love the daily challenge team, and sometimes I look for my spark teammates for support. Happy Sparking!

Not everyone follows the SP program to a T... you can customize it and choose what you want to do. I do really enjoy tracking my food and exercise so I know where I'm at for the day. This is YOUR journey - do what works for you!

I've skated on the edge of the SparkPeople community for almost a month trying to figure out how things work. I joined the over 55 with lots to lose group and the Columbia, SC group, but am just figuring out how to post.

I can't seem to find time to keep posting and doing all the pieces of this program, but love the community and support ideas. I've spent a couple of weeks working rigidly with the Fat Resistance Diet with lots of success, but am now moving to the plodding through a pound or 2 a week part of the weight loss, and not sure I can stay that rigid for the years it will take, so may work on getting back to WW. I do classes at a local health club, but also work with Coach Nicole's 6-12 minute clips.

My question is: how Ok is it in this community to deal with challenges on other "programs?" For instance, I'd love to know who else is doing something with leptin resistance? How safe is cutting out all starchy carbs for a couple of weeks? Are there active folks who don't post every few days, and track in other ways? Is there a protocol I should be aware of as I post?

THANKS!
