Welcome to Spark People!
I was 204 pounds when I started at SP in 2011. Running was my main cardio activity and I lost 70 pounds, and have maintained the loss for over a year now. It wasn't all from running, strength training, other forms of cardio and eating properly are all important too.
I went from the couch to running my first half marathon 9 months after joining SP. Right now I am training for my first full marathon, in April. I don't think there is any such thing as "too heavy" to be able to run any distance...once you've trained for it.
I recommend you join some Teams for your interests - Sparky Marathoners is one - and participate on them, you will get a lot of good advice. I assume from your post that you are not currently a runner, so you would be starting from the beginning (And if I assumed wrong my apologies, I know making assumptions is dangerous)? A full marathon in April is doable but I would really recommend you start smaller. A full marathon places a lot of demands on your body (and time) and is a major commitment. Starting from ground zero, no running base or fitness, and pushing to train for 26.2 miles is...not impossible but not recommended. Your body needs time to get used to the new demands being put on it.
Why not start with some shorter distance running goals, and see how your training develops? You might find that you hate long distances and prefer the shorter ones, or even that you hate running and prefer some other form of cardio. Whatever you decide make sure you listed to your body's signals though to avoid injuries.
