Hi emoticon and congratulations on beginning your Spark journey!

There's so much here to help you along the way and excellent advice to setting and achieving healthy goals. With the thousands and thousands of fellow Sparkers you will always find someone you can connect with. I am always amazed how many lives have been changed for the better through the use of SparkPeople.

If you have not already done so, I suggest that you check out the videos in the "Healthy Lifestyle" section. Scroll down for the site orientation videos. That should point you in the right direction. I find that if you just start looking around Spark, you will quickly learn about the wonderful tools available for your use. After being a Sparker since 2007, I still find something new and very useful.

Welcome and best wishes!

Hi there and welcome to SparkPeople! Congratulations on making the decision to live a healthier life!

There are many great resources available on SP; one I recommend using on a daily basis is the Nutrition Tracker. You can ensure you are getting the proper nutrients as well as tracking your caloric intake and this is so important to any weight loss journey.

I also suggest joining a couple of teams. Your team members are there to provide congratulations when you are succeeding and motivation when you are feeling down!

I wish you all the best in achieving your goals and feel free to stop by my page if you ever have any questions or need some support! To get the weight-tracker, you need to edit your personal SparkPage. When you editing, scroll down till you get to "My Weight Loss Ticker" and you should be able to set it up from there!

Hi, just introducing myself... I'm not usually one for message boards, so I'm new to this community and this whole sort of thing in general! I really dig the website, though, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'd noticed how supportive the posters where on these boards. It's neat to see everyone "in it together" as it where. I get embarrassed thinking about how much weight I have to lose (about a hundred pounds), but I feel like I don't have to be in this community.

I should probably mention I'm a bit long winded.

So, yeah, like many people on the boards (that I've noticed so far), I'm a mother of a toddler. That whole body-change-after-pregnancy thing was not kind to me (not that my pre-baby shape didn't need a bit of help). Now, on top of being uncomfortable in my body, I'm developing some fairly nasty weight related health problems. So! time for a change. I've actually lost 32 pounds since last year, but I really needed to get more involved in the process. I'm very pleased to have found this website.

How do you get that weight tracker thing on the bottom of your posts? I really want one of those...

Black Bean "Hummus"
Submitted By: SP_STEPF

This dip doesn't have many of the same ingredients as hummus, but it is about the same consistency. I spread this on bread or tortillas with vegetables for a quick sandwich, I dip carrots and celery into it, and I eat it with tortilla chips for a snack. Full Recipe
