Hi FRIEND (!! emoticon !!)and welcome to SparkPeople! Congratulations on making the decision to live a healthier life!

There are many great resources available on SP; one I recommend using on a daily basis is the Nutrition Tracker. You can ensure you are getting the proper nutrients as well as tracking your caloric intake and this is so important to any weight loss journey.

I also suggest joining a couple of teams. Your team members are there to provide congratulations when you are succeeding and motivation when you are feeling down!

ice cream is my downfall too, but i have been doing much better in controlling my portion sizes

I woke up one day to find that my BMI was seriously bordering obesity.

"Oh dear," I said, "No more ice cream before bed."

Then I found this site. Small steps to a healthier lifestyle.

"I could get into that." Before it had been all or nothing--and it wore me out. Now, 10,000 steps a day, a few simple exercises and a bit of cardio--along with a balanced meal. This is fantastic! And I'm so glad it's free.

By the way, my name is Kristina. Feel free to call me Sophie, 'hey you', or 'friend'. :)
