Hey, Shelia....just wanted to post to let you know (and for anyone else that might like the program). You mentioned in your post earlier the Walk at Home program, or Walk Away the Pounds. I searched online and found the website www.walkathome.com that has all the walk at home videos for sale (the ones by Leslie Sansone). I've watched the clips and some of the shorter ones on YouTube and they look like they would be perfect for me...aerobic activity for someone who isn't in the best of shape yet and can't do the higher impact ones you see most places.

Thanks again, Shelia for mentioning those.

Tammy-

Hello and welcome! Don't worry about how much exercise you're able to get at once....every little bit counts and it's best to start with baby-steps anyway! If you keep going, you'll be shocked at how long it will take to be able to go for 30 minutes and more (it won't take that long!). Starting with the WiiFit is great....short brisk walks are great, if you are able to use a stationary bicycle or something like that, 15 minutes on that is great. Even doing jumping jacks for one minute is a start! Good luck!

emoticon I just want to say thanks for all the kind and encouraging words. Today has been particularly stressful but I've managed not to "blow it" so far.

It's funny that you mentioned the Wii Fit, Sheila. We got that for Christmas last year. My son does 30 minutes of the "free step" every weekday morning. I finally got it out and tried it the other day. I didn't think that the step aerobic on that tiny little balance board would be very much activity but by the mid way point I thought it was trying to kill me. LOL I agree though, it's a great way to start. I have lost 2.5 pounds since Monday so I guess that is a decent first week. I've done that before though....my "trick", if you will, is going to be LASTING results and lifestyle change.

I will definitely check your page later, and also that link you gave me for the walking workouts if they are still there. Thanks again so much.

And thank you also, SAMANDWOODY1 and MOMMA48...I look forward to getting to know you and everyone else here better as times goes on. It's so good to read all the success stories from people here.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tammy

emoticon Hi Tammy, Welcome to SP! You've made a wonderful decision to take care of YOU, and you'll never regret being a Sparkie :)

I started here at 50, and was a major couch potato! SP has made a HUGE difference in my life, and is a blessing every day!

I have lost 55 pounds SO FAR, but the greatest change has been in my energy level and my self confidence! My son's Wii Fit got me off the couch, playing the Wii Sports games-I would highly recommend them for anyone who is inactive! I fell in love with the tennis game, even wishing someday I could play real tennis! But I never would have dreamed that in a few months, I would really be on a tennis court! But there I was, living my dream! And today, it is one of my favorite things to do!
And my sons (22 & 17) are playing too! We also play badminton in our back yard. Before SP, they stayed in their rooms most of the time playing video games!
I really enjoy the time we get to spend together now!

So, start slow, if you can't walk for 15 minutes, walk for 5, or 2, or however long you can go! I also used the Walk Away The Pounds workouts starting out-they are easy to do in your living room, but are very effective! I don't know if they're still there, but www.realage.com used to have a couple of Leslie Sansome workouts on there! It's nice to try them out first to see if you like them.

I have several tips on my Spark page if you'd like to read them. They are things that have helped me along the way.

I wish you all the best on your journey! SP does work, just stay committed & connected!

If I can help, let me know!
~Shelia

Hello, everyone. My name is Tammy and I'm 42 years old, married and have one teenage son. I've been VERY inactive for years and find it difficult to complete even a 15 minute walk so it's gonna be a slow start here for me. I know I don't have to compare myself to anyone else so I'm ready to do whatever it takes. I want to lose at least 100 pounds by this same time next year with my ultimate goal being to lose 112-120 pounds. It seems like SUCH a daunting task but I know that this site will be a huge part of my success if I will continue to access everything available here. My husband found out a few months ago that he is diabetic and I was told I am risking it if I continue on the path I've been on. I have high blood pressure (controlled) and would like to be able to lose enough weight to get off those medications and also avoid developing diabetes.
